Position Overview
We are seeking an engaging and musically skilled individual to lead a community
singing group designed primarily for seniors. This program aims to reduce social
isolation and foster meaningful connections. The facilitator will create a welcoming
and inclusive environment where participants feel comfortable expressing themselves
and experience joy through singing.
Duties
- Lead and facilitate weekly singing sessions for seniors
- Select and prepare a diverse repertoire of songs suitable for group singing (e.g., classics, folk, light contemporary)
- Provide live musical accompaniment using piano, guitar, or both
- Encourage participation and adapt sessions to varying skill and comfort levels
- Foster a positive and socially engaging atmosphere
- Coordinate occasional themed sessions or informal performances
- Monitor group dynamics and ensure a respectful, inclusive environment
Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to play piano or guitar (both preferred) and sing confidently
- Experience leading group music sessions, choirs, or community programs
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially with seniors
- Sensitivity to the needs of older adults, including those experiencing isolation or mobility/cognitive challenges
- Reliable, organized and able to maintain a consistent schedule

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: $17.18 per hour
