Position Overview
This role acts as the Commercial and Operational Gatekeeper for high-value systems. You will hold final authority on schedule commitments, risk acceptance, and the enforcement of strict project governance for North American installations.
The successful candidate will manage the full industrial lifecycle of complex recycling systems across North America, protecting project margin, controlling execution risk, and driving disciplined delivery from kickoff through commissioning and final acceptance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and govern the full lifecycle of complex industrial projects from design release through fabrication, installation, commissioning, and final handover.
- Enforce site readiness using Customer Responsibility Checklists to prevent site-related delays, remobilization costs, and avoidable commissioning disruptions.
- Serve as the commercial and operational authority on customer commitments, schedule realism, risk acceptance, and execution readiness.
- Lead high-stakes communication with customers, suppliers, Sales, Engineering, and Production, including tough discussions and high-pressure negotiations required to protect scope, schedule, and project margin.
- Travel across North America 5–7 times per year for customer meetings, installation oversight, and commissioning activities; trips typically range from 1–2 weeks.
- Monitor budgets, budget variances, and overall P&L health in ERP while providing clear reporting to the Director of Project Management and senior leadership.
- Lead Dry, Warm, and Performance commissioning phases through final system acceptance sign-off and customer handover.
Qualifications & Experience
- 5–10 years of proven experience leading complex projects within industrial manufacturing, engineered equipment, production systems, or heavy construction environments.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field; PMP certification is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated mastery of project planning and scheduling, including Gantt chart design, critical path control, resource leveling, and dependency tracking.
- Experience enforcing site readiness through Customer Responsibility Checklists and other pre-installation controls.
- Proven ability to lead Dry, Warm, and Performance commissioning phases through final system acceptance sign-off.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing project cost performance in ERP-based environments.
- Experience with AI-enabled project tools, automated reporting, Leica BLK2Go site capture, or related digital technologies is considered a strong asset.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong executive-level judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving capability in fast-moving industrial environments.
- Exceptional communication presence with the ability to influence stakeholders, challenge unrealistic commitments, and maintain control under pressure.
- High degree of self-management and personal accountability; this role requires an operator who takes ownership and delivers without close supervision.
- Process Innovation mindset with the ability to improve workflows, remove bottlenecks, apply automation, and help advance the organization toward Industry 4.0 standards.
- Strong collaboration skills across Engineering, Production, Sales, suppliers, and customer teams.
- Fluency in English is required; French is a strong asset.
