Job Title: Coordinator, Child & Youth Recreation
Position Type: Salaried (Full-time, flexible schedule required)
3 weeks paid vacation (per calendar year)

Position Overview
Reporting to the Director of Child and Youth Recreation, this position is responsible for the overall operation, development and delivery of the child and youth recreation programs/services. The Coordinator is responsible for planning activities that promote physical and mental wellbeing and for ensuring the safety of all participants, in addition to overseeing and scheduling department staff and volunteers.
Duties
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders including YMCA staff and volunteers, community agencies, service providers, and schools.
Teach and Deliver – Canadian Red Cross Youth Courses – Babysitting and Stay Safe.
Plan, facilitate, and supervise recreational, social, and educational programs for the children and youth of the community
Assess the recreational needs of the child and youth in our programs and implement new programming based on those needs and interests.
Connect with the children and youth, giving them support and a safe environment to grow.
Ensure the security of children and youth, guiding on behavioral issues as needed.
Recruit, supervise, and coach youth recreation staff, ensuring high levels of service and performance in quality program delivery.
Facilitate ongoing training.
Support the implementation and delivery of specialty and leadership programming and camps.

Skills & Qualifications
Current and acceptable Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening is a condition of employment
Contravention not indicated Social Development Check is a condition of employment
Valid Workplace Standard Basic First Aid and CPR Certification
Certificate/Diploma in Recreation or Kinesiology (an asset)
Previous experience with program delivery for children and youth
Be able to work unsupervised, take initiative, & lead groups
Demonstrated leadership skills developed through a minimum of 12 months experience supervising, coaching and leading a team
Bilingualism in French and English will be a strong asset
Strong communication & organizational skills
Willingness to be trained in Canadian Red Cross Youth Course delivery – Babysitting and Stay Safe
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
