The Controller is a key member of the Finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the organization, including accounting, reporting, budget variance analysis, and internal controls, while supporting the Director of Finance in achieving broader financial and administrative objectives. This role ensures the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, enforces financial policies and procedures, and provides key analysis to support strategic decision-making. The Controller is a vital contributor to the financial stability and operational efficiency of the organization.
We're looking for a qualified candidate in either Pictou County or HRM to work in Trenton 3 days a week, and remote from home or at the DORA headquarters. DORA is the sister company to EASTCUT.
Qualifications:
Current CPA designation
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a progressive management role
Superior and proven abilities in Excel
Experience in Acumatica for accounting, Procore for project management, and Proest for estimating, or other similar systems will be considered an asset
Experience in a manufacturing environment will be considered an asset
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Advanced analytical skills, coupled with excellent organizational skills
Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Ensure accurate and timely development, analysis, and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Deliver in-depth financial insights, trends, and forecasts to support decision-making
Contribute to the development and execution of both short- and long-term financial strategies aligned with organizational goals
Budgeting & Forecasting
Leading month-end, setting and maintaining internal financial controls, and assisting with year-end financial reporting, preparing budgets and forecasts.
Assist in the preparation of annual and monthly budgets, including capital planning, in collaboration with the leadership team.
Deliver key financial insights to support realistic forecasting and projections that align with operational and strategic goals.
Track, analyze, and report on key performance indicators and produce monthly and quarterly operational and financial reports.
Present financial results and strategic recommendations to senior leadership on a regular basis.
Audit & Compliance
Act as the primary liaison with external auditors and ensure accurate preparation of audited financial statements
Assist in developing, maintaining, and enforcing accounting policies, operational procedures, and strong internal controls to ensure compliance and financial integrity.
