Position Summary
Based out of Halifax or New Glasgow, NS, the Intern, Business Support Analyst is responsible for providing foundational analytical and administrative support to the EPMO & Technology team. This role is focused on building experience in enterprise project management, business analysis, and technology operations within a dynamic real estate investment trust (REIT) environment. Additional duties of the Intern, Business Support Analyst include but are not limited to:
Project Support
- Assist with the coordination, tracking, and documentation of enterprise projects across the EPMO portfolio.
- Support the maintenance of project artifacts including status reports, risk logs, action item registers, and decision logs.
- Help prepare materials for project governance meetings, steering committees, and stakeholder presentations.
Business Analysis Support
- Gather, organize, and document business requirements by participating in stakeholder interviews and workshops.
- Assist in drafting Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), process maps, and user stories under the guidance of senior analysts.
- Conduct preliminary research and data gathering to support fit-gap analyses and solution evaluations.
- Reporting & Data Management
- Support the development and maintenance of dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or similar tools.
- Assist with data entry, validation, and reconciliation across enterprise platforms such as Yardi and SAP.
- Help compile and analyze operational metrics to support decision-making.
Technology & Process Support
- Provide first-level triage and documentation of technology support requests.
- Assist with user acceptance testing (UAT) activities, including test case preparation, execution, and defect logging.
- Support process improvement initiatives by documenting current-state workflows and identifying potential efficiencies.
Administrative & Team Support
- Coordinate meeting logistics, prepare agendas, and capture meeting minutes and action items.
- Maintain organized documentation within SharePoint and other collaboration platforms.
- Assist with vendor coordination, purchase order tracking, and invoice processing as needed.
- Engages across all levels of the organization to create and promote a safe and respectful work environment.
- Other special projects and tasks as assigned.
The profile we are looking for
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program with a focus in Business Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Collaborative, team-oriented approach with a willingness to learn.
The following are considered assets:
- Exposure to project management concepts (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies).
- Familiarity with business analysis frameworks, requirements gathering, or process mapping.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Basic understanding of enterprise systems (ERP, property management software).
- Co-op, internship, or volunteer experience in a corporate or technology environment.
