Our client is an established, innovative organization with a strong reputation for delivering research, engineering, and technology solutions to national and international clients. They are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead the full HR function in a strategic yet hands-on capacity based out of their St. John's, NL head office. As the sole HR professional, this is a highly visible, permanent opportunity to shape people practices, strengthen workplace culture, and support long-term organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

Lead and manage day-to-day HR operations, serving as a trusted resource for employees and managers
Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, templates, and best practices
Lead the organization's performance management process, including goal setting, reviews, calibration, and manager support
Lead full-cycle recruitment in partnership with hiring managers
Coordinate employee onboarding, orientation, documentation, system setup, and policy training
Coordinate HR-related payroll activities, including employee changes, new hires, terminations, deductions, benefits information, and the payroll interface with the third-party payroll provider
Coordinate health and safety initiatives, training, and professional development activities
Manage compensation structures, salary benchmarking, employee benefits, and the RRSP program to support competitive and equitable practices
Prepare HR reports, analysis, surveys, and documentation for senior leadership
Identify and coordinate funding opportunities for student employment
Liaise with external recruitment partners, benefits providers, government agencies, professional HR associations, and internal Finance and IT teams as required

Experience & Attributes for Success:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or a related field
5 - 10 years of progressive HR experience, including at least two years in a managerial or senior HR capacity
Professional HR designation or certification is considered an asset
Strong knowledge of Human resources principles and best practices
Knowledge of employment legislation and workplace regulations
Experience with compensation and benefits
Proven understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
A confident and approachable leadership style with a genuine interest in supporting people and workplace culture
High level of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information
