Job Summary

This is a casual role, seeking someone we can call on for farmers markets, and specialty one-off markets which are very common in the fall months. We cannot guarantee a shift every week year round, but we expect a busy fall!

Join our vibrant farmers market team as a Farmers Market Attendant! In this lively and dynamic role, you will be the friendly face representing local vendors and fresh produce, creating an engaging shopping experience for customers. Your enthusiasm and excellent communication skills will help promote products, assist shoppers, and ensure the market runs smoothly. This paid position offers a fantastic opportunity to be part of a community-focused environment that celebrates fresh food, local artisans, and sustainable practices.

Duties

Greet customers warmly and provide exceptional customer service to enhance their market experience
Conduct product sampling and share detailed information about items to encourage sales
Operate POS (Point of Sale) systems for cash handling, credit card transactions, and receipts
Maintain cleanliness and organization of vendor stalls and common areas throughout the market
Upsell products by recommending complementary items and informing customers about special offers

Requirements

Excellent communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for engaging diverse customers
Previous retail sales or customer service experience preferred, especially in food or merchandise environments
Basic math skills for cash handling, making change, and processing transactions accurately
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting
Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate loads, and perform physical tasks comfortably
Bilingual or multilingual capabilities are highly desirable to serve a diverse clientele effectively
