Job Summary:
We currently have an open position for a Purchasing Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for procuring raw materials, components, and consumables to support manufacturing operations. This role ensures that production materials are purchased at competitive prices while meeting quality standards and delivery timelines. The Purchasing Specialist works closely with production planning, inventory control, and suppliers to maintain uninterrupted manufacturing operations and optimize inventory levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and purchase raw materials, packaging components, and consumable supplies
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable supply and competitive pricing
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms with vendors
- Issue and manage purchase orders, stock transfers and component sales orders through the company’s ERP system
- Monitor supplier performance including delivery, quality, and responsiveness
- Coordinate with production planning, operations and inventory teams to ensure material availability, while minimizing excess stock
- Track purchase orders to ensure timely delivery and resolve supply delays
- Identify cost reduction opportunities through supplier negotiations, alternative materials, or process improvements
- Maintain accurate procurement records, pricing agreements, and supplier documentation
- Coordinate with accounting to ensure proper invoice reconciliation
- Address product deficiencies and quality issues with suppliers, including investigating discrepancies, coordinating corrective actions, arranging replacements or credits
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Manufacturing, or related field preferred
- 2–5 years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and supply chains
- Experience working with ERP systems (such as SAP or similar systems)
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Office applications
- Effective communication skills to interact with external vendors, customers and internal departments at all levels of the organization
- Ability to work independently
- Strong work ethic and positive team-oriented attitude
Working Conditions:
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
- Long periods of sitting, with occasional standing
- Overtime may be required
- Regular interaction with production, quality, and warehouse teams
- Occasional supplier meetings or site visits
