Valbruna ASW Inc., the premier specialty steel-making facility located in Welland, ON, has an immediate requirement for the following position:
MRO BUYER (TEMPORARY)

MRO Buyer (Temp) impacts the business by controlling costs while ensuring maximum value, quality and efficiency in the sourcing and procurement of spare parts, consumables and services used in the specialty steel making process. The successful applicant will work directly with vendors to support internal clients to procure and maintain supplies and services in support of the production of specialty steel.
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, duties and responsibilities include some of the following:
- Ensure the availability and timely supply of spare parts for all plant equipment
- Procure and manage inventory levels of MRO consumables as well as general stores items and safety PPE
- Coordinate and oversee the supply of contracted services to the operation
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels, ensuring items are available when needed and maintain stock inventory of consumables
- Provide logistical support for deliveries and matching invoices post deliveries
- Keep informed on supply shortages and delays and ensure that relevant stakeholders are advised
- Lead the resolution with suppliers regarding rejections, dispositions and adjustments of purchased materials which fail to meet specifications
- Find and develop new sources of supply
- Complete all other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- Experience with Oracle ERP is a MUST
- Strong technical skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, word and outlook
- Minimum of three years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably within the steel industry is preferred
- Excellent negotiation skills and ability to analyze information with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently in an unstructured environment with little supervision and to take ownership of job responsibilities
- Ability to meet and manage competing deadlines and handle multiple priorities and demands
- Superior communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
