HEAVY EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN – ON HIGHWAY TRUCK AND TRANSPORT MECHANIC – JOURNEYMAN/4TH YEAR APPRENTICE

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Service Manager and Shop Foreman, the Truck and Transport Mechanic will be required to perform diagnostics and repairs on heavy-duty trucks and in all areas of on-highway vehicles (including both towed and self-propelled).
The current Edmonton facility operating hours are Monday to Friday 7:30 am to 11 pm. and Saturday 8: am to 4:00 pm. Technicians may/will be required to work shift work, evenings, and weekends.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, overhaul, and repair heavy-duty trucks equipped with diesel engines and automatic/manual transmissions
· Requisition parts, materials, and equipment as required
· Complete detailed, accurate, and concise work order reports
· Maintain clean, organized, and safe workspaces
· Follow all Company Health & Safety policies and applicable legislation
· Communicate with the Shop Foreman regarding additional work requirements, delays, or repair concerns
· Work efficiently with the Parts Department to ensure timely parts availability
· Road test vehicles when required (if licensed) or refer to the designated test technician
· Participate in company and manufacturer-sponsored training programs
· Report equipment defects or malfunctions to the Shop Foreman
· Maintain shop cleanliness and immediately report safety concerns
· Stay current and compliant with federal, provincial, and municipal regulations, including hazardous waste disposal requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
· Valid Heavy Equipment Technician – Truck & Transport Mechanic Journeyman Certificate required
· CVIP Certification considered an asset
· Must have own tools
· Experience working with Class 6–8 trucks considered an asset
· Valid Class 5 driver’s license required; Class 3 with Q endorsement considered an asset
· Strong computer and diagnostic skills, including laptop-based diagnostics for heavy-duty trucks
· Experience with Premium Tech Tool considered an asset
· Ability to work safely in a high-pressure environment
· Ability to follow direction and work effectively within a team
· Strong organizational and time management skills
· Professional and positive attitude when interacting with coworkers and customers
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to read and interpret technical procedures, regulations, journals, and company policies
