About Deep Cove Winery
Deep Cove Winery is a boutique estate winery located on the Saanich Peninsula, just north of Victoria on Vancouver Island. We produce small-lot, handcrafted wines from our estate vineyard and select BC fruit sources, with a focus on quality, authenticity, and a genuine connection to the land.
We're a small, dedicated team that takes the work seriously and keeps the atmosphere approachable. If you like working outdoors, learning as you go, and being part of something that turns into wine at the end of the season, this is a good fit.
The Role
We're looking for a reliable, physically capable person to join us in the vineyard on a part-time seasonal basis. Hours are flexible and can be arranged around other commitments. We'll work with the right candidate on scheduling. The role runs through the growing season and into harvest, with the heaviest demand from August through October.
No formal viticulture training is required. A willingness to learn, show up, and work hard matters more than a resume. That said, previous vineyard, farm, or outdoor labour experience is definitely an asset.
What You'll Be Doing
Canopy management: bud rubbing, shoot thinning, shoot positioning, and leaf removal to manage vine growth and fruit exposure
Vine training and tying: securing shoots and canes to trellis wire throughout the growing season
Vineyard floor management: weeding, mowing, and cover crop maintenance
Fruit thinning: cluster thinning to improve fruit quality and concentrate flavour
Harvest support: hand-picking, bin handling, and general harvest logistics as the season peaks
Trellising and wire maintenance: ongoing upkeep of the vineyard infrastructure
General vineyard and property maintenance as needed
Following health and safety protocols at all times. This is a physical outdoor environment
What We Offer
$19.00 – $24.00/hour depending on experience.
Flexible scheduling, we'll work around you; no rigid 9-to-5 requirement
A genuine learning environment, you'll report directly to the winemaker and be trained to understand why every task matters
Staff wine discounts
The chance to grow into expanded cellar or tasting room responsibilities for the right candidate
A small, good-humoured team that doesn't take itself too seriously but focuses intensely about quality.
What We're Looking For
Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Reliable and punctual.
A genuine interest in viticulture, agriculture and wine.
Ability to follow direction and work independently once tasks are understood
Comfortable with repetitive physical tasks.
Valid BC driver's license.
Previous vineyard, farm, nursery, or outdoor labour experience is an asset but not a requirement — we'll train the right person
A Note on Scheduling
We understand that part-time workers often have other jobs, studies, or commitments. We'll do our best to schedule around your availability, particularly outside of peak harvest periods. During harvest (September-October), we will need consistent availability. This is the period when the work is most time-sensitive and flexibility on your end is most appreciated. If you have questions about scheduling before applying, just ask.
How to Apply
Send a brief email introducing yourself to [email protected]. You don't need a formal cover letter. Tell us a little about yourself, why you're interested, and any relevant experience you have.
We'll review applications as they come in and reach out to set up an informal conversation. No phone calls please. Must be able to legally work in Canada.
Deep Cove Winery is committed to a workplace that is welcoming, inclusive, and safe. We encourage applications from all backgrounds and experience levels. This is a physical outdoor role on an active vineyard. We want great people who want to do great work.
