Swim Team Coach – (Contractor)

The Arbutus Club has been a landmark in Vancouver since 1964. Today, it is a modern recreation complex with first-class food and beverage services. With its vast range of facilities and programs, coupled with unparalleled service, The Arbutus Club has earned a reputation as one of Canada’s finest premier private clubs.

The Arbutus Club is seeking a dedicated candidate with availability to work Monday through Friday evenings and during the Swim Team’s special events and swim meets on weekends (if applicable). This position requires a long-term commitment to fostering a safe and effective swim team environment. If you have a passion for swimming and enjoy working with children, we would love to meet you.

Duties & Responsibilities

Assist with instructing swimmers in the rules, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
Ensure the safety of swimmers at practice by following proper precautions and regulations.
Assess swimmers’ skills and communicate with the Swim Team Director about swimmers’ performances.
Maintain structure and discipline within a group setting, while encouraging and promoting swimmers' participation in a positive environment

Requirements & Qualifications

Minimum of 1 year of experience with a swim club or team, and a minimum of 2 years of personal swimming experience on a club or team
Must be competent with all four (4) competition strokes and comfortable demoing from in and out of water.
NCCP Level 1 certification
NLS, SFA, CPR-C, and Swim Instructor certifications considered an asset.
Knowledgeable, reliable, organized, and have a passion for coaching children and youth ages 6-16
A Criminal Record Check will be required
