About Sou'Wester Restaurant
Located in the iconic and picturesque Peggy's Cove, the Sou'Wester Restaurant is a beloved landmark serving thousands of visitors each season with classic Nova Scotia seafood and hospitality. We are looking for an enthusiastic and friendly Espresso Cashier and Host to be the welcoming face of our restaurant.
Job Summary
As the Espresso Cashier and Host, you'll play a vital role in two key areas of our operation. Depending on your scheduled shift, you will either be working at our take-out counter, serving customers directly and handling espresso drink and take-out food orders, or you will be at the host station, managing the flow of guests into our dining room. This multifaceted role requires a positive attitude, strong multitasking abilities, and a passion for providing outstanding customer service in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Espresso Cashier and Take-Out Counter:
- Prepare and serve a variety of espresso-based drinks, coffees, teas, and other beverages.
- Accurately process payments for all take-out orders and beverages using a POS (Point of Sale) system, handling cash, credit, and debit transactions.
- Provide friendly and efficient service to take-out customers, answering questions and making recommendations as appropriate.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary espresso bar and counter area, following all health and safety regulations.
Host/Hostess Station:
- Warmly greet and welcome all guests to the restaurant.
- Manage the guest waiting list and seating arrangements efficiently, communicating wait times accurately.
- Answer guest inquiries about the menu, restaurant, and the Peggy's Cove area.
- Maintain a clean and organized host station and entrance area.
- Collaborate with the serving staff to ensure a smooth flow of service
General Responsibilities:
- Handle guest feedback and resolve minor issues with professionalism and a calm demeanor.
- Adhere to all restaurant policies and procedures, including those for cash handling and security.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a restaurant or customer service role is a strong asset. Experience with an espresso machine is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly, welcoming, and professional demeanor.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, high-volume tourist environment.
- Strong attention to detail for both cash handling and drink preparation.
- Reliable, punctual, and possess a strong work ethic.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including days and evenings, including weekends, holidays, and extended hours during the peak season.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
- Reliable transportation (drivers license)
