Alderwood is a 70 bed Nursing Home/Residential Care Facility. Our building has 6 separate home areas: five home areas for Nursing Home (11 or 12 beds) and one home area for Residential Care (11 beds). All are private rooms with private bathrooms.
Alderwood has a strong history of providing excellent care to our residents, in a beautiful facility, that we are very proud of. We strive to provide a positive environment for both our residents, and our dedicated staff, and we are looking to add more Registered Nurses to our team.

Purpose: The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Recreation Department in providing programs designed to enhance the social, psychological, and spiritual life of the Residents of Alderwood. All tasks are to be approached in a spirit of teamwork, within and among departments, to ensure cooperation and completion in an efficient manner. As with every role, the underlying responsibility is the care and safety of each Resident. As such, the tasks required in fulfilling the responsibilities of this position, and the day-to-day routines/schedules for completing these tasks, are secondary only to ensuring the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of each Resident are met. Specific responsibilities are outlined below in the Key Result Areas.
Work Shift: The position of Long-Term Care Assistant requires flexibility in hours of work. The specific work schedule for the LTCA is established by the Director of Recreation in consultation with the Administrator. Work shifts are subject to change and will be advised in the usual manner.
Key Result Areas:
Recreation Services
· Assist in planning, development and implementation of therapeutic group and individual programs.
· Engage with residents in group and in 1:1 setting
· Adapt activities to meet the needs and the ability levels of the residents, as required
· Create and maintain a positive atmosphere of warmth, and personal interest with the residents and help ease the transition of admission and discharge
· Assist with assigned activities and take responsibility for the associated equipment, vehicles and supplies
· Assume responsibility for resident care and safety during activities, programs and outings
· Work in co-operation with staff, residents, and families to promote effective communication
· Promote a positive working relationship with and among Departments
· Promote the therapeutic value of recreation programs and activities to staff
· Maintain accurate charts of residents’ activities
· Provide the Director of Recreation with updates on activities
· Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent records and to assure Residents’ rights are protected
· Perform other related duties as assigned by Administrator and Director of Recreation
· Be in possession of a valid Class 4 Driver’s License (preferred)
General:

Pay: $20.48-$20.80 per hour
