Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Site Trainer – MHE & Warehouse Operations to support a fast-paced warehouse operation in Milton, Ontario.
The Site Trainer is responsible for delivering, coordinating, and maintaining Material Handling Equipment (MHE) training and job process training for employees at the site. This role ensures employees are properly trained, competent, and compliant with operational procedures, customer requirements, company standards, and the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
The Site Trainer will also play an important role in the Train-the-Trainer program, ensuring supervisors, lead hands, and designated trainers are qualified and capable of delivering safe, consistent, and high-quality training across all shifts.
Previous Amazon experience is required for this position.
Key ResponsibilitiesMHE Training & Certification
- Deliver and coordinate training and certification for Material Handling Equipment (MHE), including:
- Forklifts
- Reach Trucks
- Order Pickers
- Electric Pallet Jacks
- Manual Pallet Jacks
- Other site-specific warehouse equipment
- Conduct practical evaluations to confirm operators can safely and competently operate assigned equipment.
- Conduct refresher training and recertification as required.
- Ensure MHE training meets Ontario OHSA requirements and internal company safety standards.
- Maintain accurate training records, operator certifications, licences, evaluation documents, and expiry information.
- Identify unsafe operating practices and provide immediate coaching or retraining when required.
- Work closely with Health & Safety, Operations, and Maintenance teams following MHE-related incidents or concerns.
Job Process & Operational Training
- Deliver hands-on training for warehouse processes, including:
- Receiving and inbound processing
- Putaway and storage
- Picking
- Packing
- Shipping
- Returns
- Quality checks
- Value-added services
- Ensure employees are trained according to established SOPs and customer-specific requirements.
- Assess employee competency through observation, practical assessments, and documented sign-off.
- Support training requirements for new client launches, operational changes, new processes, and peak periods.
Train-the-Trainer Program
- Support and maintain the site's Train-the-Trainer program for MHE and warehouse process training.
- Deliver Train-the-Trainer sessions to supervisors, lead hands, and designated trainers.
- Assess trainer knowledge, practical ability, communication, and training effectiveness.
- Coach trainers on instructional techniques, employee engagement, safety, and consistency.
- Ensure designated trainers remain properly qualified, authorized, and compliant.
- Maintain records of trainer qualifications, certifications, evaluations, and refresher requirements.
New Hire Onboarding & Workforce Integration
- Support new employee orientation and onboarding.
- Provide safety awareness, MHE, and job-specific training to new hires.
- Coordinate training schedules with Operations based on staffing and productivity requirements.
- Monitor new employees during their initial training period.
- Ensure employees demonstrate competency before transitioning to independent work.
- Act as a key point of contact for trainees throughout the onboarding and training process.
Continuous Improvement & Retraining
- Identify training gaps through performance metrics, safety incidents, audits, observations, and supervisor feedback.
- Provide corrective coaching and retraining where required.
- Recommend improvements to training materials, job aids, SOPs, and training methods.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, productivity, and employee performance.
- Help develop a consistent and scalable training culture across all shifts.
Documentation, Compliance & Reporting
- Maintain complete and accurate employee training records.
- Track training completion, competency assessments, MHE certifications, and certification expiry dates.
- Ensure training documentation is maintained according to company and regulatory requirements.
- Support internal and external audits, inspections, and customer reviews.
- Provide regular updates to site leadership regarding training completion, outstanding certifications, risks, and retraining requirements.
Requirements & QualificationsEducation & Experience
- Postsecondary education, professional certification, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 2–4+ years of experience in warehouse operations, training, logistics, distribution, or a related environment.
- Previous hands-on experience delivering MHE training in a warehouse or distribution centre is required.
- Previous Amazon experience is required.
- Experience participating in or delivering Train-the-Trainer programs is strongly preferred.
- Previous 3PL, logistics, fulfillment, or distribution centre experience is considered a strong asset.
Certifications & MHE Requirements
- Completion of a recognized MHE/Forklift Train-the-Trainer program is strongly preferred.
- Candidates without current Train-the-Trainer certification must be willing and able to complete required certification upon hire.
- Demonstrated ability to train, evaluate, and assess MHE operators.
- Forklift/MHE instructor certification is preferred.
- Strong understanding of Ontario OHSA requirements related to workplace training, competency, supervision, and safe equipment operation.
- Hands-on experience with Reach Trucks, Order Pickers, Forklifts and Pallet Jacks is strongly preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ability to work extensively on the warehouse floor.
- Ability to safely demonstrate warehouse processes and operate applicable MHE.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, reach, stretch, and perform physical demonstrations as required.
- Ability to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Flexibility to provide training across multiple shifts, including days, afternoons, nights, and weekends when required.
