We are looking for a Product Engineering Technician to join our dynamic Team at our Seating division in Kitchener. If you have a passion for design are motivated, enjoy challenges and thrive in a fast-paced environment we would love to hear from you!
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Director of Engineering your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
· Engineer new product designs and custom specials using 2D & 3D Auto CAD
· Create part and assembly drawings
· Generate bills of materials and configure items in an MRP system
· Generate new product cost estimates in Excel & Word
· Provide customer layouts and product specifications
· Develop and source new hardware as required
· Prototyping and product standards testing
· Trouble shooting production issues
· Productivity improvement and cost savings projects
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
· Mechanical Engineering Technician/Technologist diploma or equivalent training and working knowledge
· Proficient use of AutoCAD 2D & 3D (preferably current version) and drafting techniques
· Knowledge/experience in Lean concepts, 5S, Line layouts, Process Flows, VSM
· Experience with Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks is an asset
· Experience within a woodworking environment is considered an asset
· Experience with metal, aluminum extrusions, die cast parts and assemblies
· General knowledge of MRP manufacturing computer systems or equivalent production type software
· Intermediate level skill set in Excel and Word
· Good communication skills - written documentation & verbal
· Strong attention to detail, analytical problem solving and effective decision making skills
