Job Title: Shop Supervisor

Position Summary and Scope:
You will report directly to the GM, or designee, and work closely with the management and other internal teams. As a Shop Foreman, you will be responsible for the following:
· Provide hands-on leadership and supervision of the shop, overseeing daily operations and workflow.
· Manage and coordinate day-to-day shop tasks, ensuring productivity, efficiency, and adherence to production schedules.
· Act as a key leader within the furnace manufacturing team, consisting of production, engineering, sales, and customer service personnel.
· Utilize your demonstrated experience to perform fabrication, assembly, and completion of all vacuum furnace builds, while actively contributing as a hands-on machine builder.
· Ensure a high level of quality, safety, and operational effectiveness, enforcing company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
· Work closely with the GM or designate to align shop priorities with business objectives.
· Contribute to efficient shop operations, including scheduling, task allocation and workflow improvements.
· Develop and maintain expertise in industrial vacuum equipment.
· Support and/or oversee payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and timely submission of employee hours.
Specific Responsibilities:
· Provide leadership, supervision, and direction to shop personnel, ensuring accountability and performance standards are met.
· Oversee and coordinate daily shop operations, including assigning work, monitoring progress, and adjusting priorities as needed.
· Act as a hands-on contributor in machine building, including layout, assembly, installation, and commissioning of furnace systems.
· Interpret blueprints and schematics to determine efficient work paths.
· Use fabrication equipment (plasma cutters, lathes, MIG/TIG welders) for pipe fitting, brazing, plumbing, and mechanical assembly.
· Identify and resolve build challenges; collaborate with engineering for improvements.
· Enforce and uphold all health and safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, ensuring a safe working environment.
· Perform preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and improve equipment efficiency.
· Review jobs prior to build and collaborate with engineering for clarification.
· Maintain machines, plant equipment, and facilities.
· Operate lifting devices such as cranes for large assemblies.
· Support off-site and international equipment installations as required.
· Maintain a clean, organized workspace aligned with 5S standards.
· Assist with or manage time tracking and payroll input/coordination for shop employees.
Qualifications:
· 10-15 years of experience in a machine building or manufacturing environment,
· 5-10 years of leadership experience/supervisory experience.
· Proven ability to lead teams and manage shop operations effectively.
· Experience assembling, troubleshooting, and repairing large machinery.
· Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
· Proficiency in welding and operating shop equipment; basic machining skills required.
· Solid understanding of shop safety practices, including OHSA & WSIB requirements, with the ability to enforce compliance.
· Mechanical aptitude in hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostics.
· Experience with heavy equipment rigging.
· Forklift, scissor lift, and crane certifications are assets.
· FCAW, SMAW, GTAW, 433A are assets.
· Experience with payroll processes or timekeeping systems is an asset.
· Willingness and ability to travel.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

· Physically capable of performing heavy mechanical work (lifting up to 60 lbs).

· Monday to Friday (8:00am – 4:30pm), subject to change at manager’s discretion.
