Unit Description:
The Office of the Registrar (RO) provides a number of services to both prospective and current students and is the primary source of information on enrolment, convocation ceremonies and important student dates and events throughout the year. We are a smart, collaborative group of approximately 100, spread across eight departments: Student Services and Financial Support, Undergraduate Recruitment, Undergraduate Admissions, Records, Systems, Scheduling & Examinations, Communications, and Central RO Administration. This supportive and dynamic team works together to provide assistance to students from their first-point-of-contact with McMaster until they graduate.
The Student Recruitment department is a central unit that plays a crucial role in promoting and supporting the undergraduate recruitment strategy of the university. The Student Recruitment department develops and maintains relationships with prospective undergraduate students and their influencers: parents, educators, guidance counsellors, etc. Representing McMaster in various recruiting contexts from large-scale events to one-on-one interactions with students, the Recruitment team identifies and understands relevant demographic and market trends, nurtures relationships and fosters student success as they guide and assist applicants through their recruitment journey.
Job Summary
The Recruitment Assistant is a McMaster University official representative to guidance counselors, senior high school students and their families. The individual will deliver a McMaster presentation and provide information in various formats. They are expected to be knowledgeable about all of McMaster’s undergraduate programs, admission policies and procedures and student service areas. Training will be provided to develop the necessary knowledge base. Most of the work will be done in person with limited remote days.
Accountabilities
1. Participates in development and delivery of presentations to potential applicants, families and guidance counsellors.
2. Respond to inquiries from prospective students using various digital delivery platforms including but not limited to live chat, email and social media accounts.
3. Assist with booking and scheduling of visits and other administrative functions as required.
4. Assist with project development as needed within the student recruitment portfolio.
Qualifications
Education: University Degree. A McMaster degree is considered an asset.
