Netgain is a digital marketing agency seeking a full-time Business Development Manager to drive expansion across three high-potential verticals: Generac dealers, independent shredding companies, and premium local service businesses.
This high-autonomy "Hunter" role suits a self-starter who builds a territory from the ground up and treats it like their own business. You'll focus on closing repeatable, recurring revenue partnerships in the $2,000–$5,000/month range, then manage those accounts to grow their value.
The ideal candidate pairs a disciplined, analytical approach with strong relationship-building instincts. You'll be equipped with our proprietary Predictive Ad Logic (PAL) framework, which uses predictive analytics on weather-driven events to trigger targeted local ads for clients. We sell on long-term trust and value, not pressure, in industries where reputation is everything. Top performers have a clear path to build and lead a major sales vertical as these markets scale.
What You’ll Be Doing
Secure a Market-Leading Position in the Generac Dealer Vertical
- Systematically identify and segment "Premier" and "Elite" Generac dealers with significant annual sales volume.
- Develop a relationship-first outreach strategy across Ontario and expansion into US markets, cold calling, leveraging high-profile industry events, exclusive invitations to Generac trade shows, and targeted in-person visits.
- Cultivate strategic alliances with Generac District Sales Managers to establish Netgain as a preferred partner.
- Pitch and position our proprietary predictive analytics framework, demonstrating how it anticipates power outages to deploy real-time advertising for dealers before the storm hits.
Drive Strategic Growth within the Shredding Industry
- Proactively target independent shredding operators in 60+ untapped US markets to expand our national footprint.
- Simultaneously identify and close new independent shredding clients within Simcoe County and the GTA.
- Partner with internal experts to navigate industry networks and build credibility.
- Execute a disciplined, multi-channel persistence cadence utilizing cold calling, direct mail, and industry events.
- Ensure a consistent presence in the market so that Netgain is the first choice when operators seek growth.
Local Market Expansion
- Identify and engage high-value local service providers.
- Expand local market reach across Simcoe County and the GTA by targeting various verticals consistent with our target clients (e.g., HVAC contractors, plumbers, landscapers).
- Leverage LinkedIn, local networking, and direct outreach to build a robust referral ecosystem.
- Apply a "listening-first" approach to transition cold prospects into long-term professional partnerships.
Develop Deep Product Knowledge and Understanding of Internal Operations
- Act as a proactive brand ambassador and entrepreneur in the field, confidently presenting to industry groups, networking organizations, and trade events to position Netgain as an enterprise-level authority in predictive digital marketing.
- Develop a deep understanding of the PAL product to effectively communicate its competitive advantage.
- Act as a bridge between the market and internal teams, requesting the specific marketing collateral needed to drive results.
- Maintain a transparent, data-driven view of the sales funnel, providing regular updates on pipeline health and velocity.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years in a B2B business development or "Hunter" role in a service-based or tech-forward industry.
- Experience in building the territory from the ground up with a proven track record of generating a net-new service pipeline.
- An enterprise mindset: proactive, strategic, and capable of commanding a room when speaking to large groups or industry event panels.
- Highly articulate with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts into clear, high ROI business outcomes.
- A methodical and persistent approach to outreach, with the emotional intelligence to handle "no" with professionalism.
- Must be able and willing to travel to the USA and internationally.
- Must have a valid G class driver’s license.
- Own a reliable vehicle for sales-related travel.
- Proficiency in CRM software.
Bonus If You Have
- Established networks within the Generac dealer ecosystem and/or the Shredding industry, as well as regional GTA/Simcoe County home services markets (e.g., HVAC, Plumbing, etc.).
- Experience in value-based selling for recurring service models, digital marketing solutions, or SaaS.
- An entrepreneurial background or experience where you have previously managed a territory or vertical, like your own business.
- A background in data-informed selling and using metrics to build a compelling business case.
What Success Looks LikeThe First 90 Days
- Achieve full fluency in Netgain offerings, including PAL.
- Document and present a comprehensive territory plan with prioritized target lists for all three verticals.
- Establish a consistent and trackable prospecting cadence with weekly visibility into pipeline growth.
- Secure first net-new clients in at least one core vertical.
Year 1
- Consistently meet or exceed monthly recurring revenue (MRR) goals within the $2,000 – $5,000 per month segment.
- Build a recognizable and respected presence within the Newmarket, Barrie, and Simcoe County business community.
Year 2
- Demonstrate that the volume and revenue generated from your service-side pipeline fully justify the transition from individual contributor to leader of a scaled business unit.
- Maintain a healthy portfolio of high-retention clients built on the foundation of trust established in year.
Compensation Highlights
- $70,000 - $80,000 base salary plus uncapped commission, structured to reward net-new logos and new-product cross-sells at materially higher rates than maintenance of existing accounts. Because the commission structure is entirely uncapped, the successful candidate has full, direct control over their total income potential.
- Estimated OTE is $150K+ once you establish your book of business.
- Strong performance will produce well above-market total earnings.
Role Development Path
- For those who find their highest calling in the "hunt," this role offers an uncapped commission structure that rewards new logo acquisition and long-term growth.
- As you prove the viability of these verticals, you will have the opportunity to move into a Sales Leadership role. This progression is earned by demonstrating the combination of strong sales results, systems thinking, and mentorship skills required to build and lead a team of hunters.
