Full job description

Who We Are

Gusto 501 brings an authentic, community-driven culinary experience to Toronto’s east end. In partnership with award-winning architecture and design firm, Partisans, Gusto 54 Restaurant Group is transforming the once-auto body shop at 501 King St. East, into five levels of open-air dining space, each with its own unique food and drink menu. This architecturally significant addition to Toronto’s Corktown neighbourhood is punctuated by a floor-to-ceiling glass façade, reclaimed terracotta accents, and the “attico” – an intimate space designed for immersive Chef dinners.

The Role:

Prepare food to order as specified by the Chef and guest
Follow recipes accurately as outlined by Chef
Coordinate timing of dish completion with other cooks, as directed by Chef
Accommodate special requests and dietary restrictions as directed by Chef

Station ownership
Ensure all mis en place needed for service is ready for use
Prior to service, prep dish elements such as stocks and garnishes. This may include chopping vegetables and butchery.
Ensure tools such as knives, pans, are in place

Perform duties in accordance with Ontario Health and Safety Standards
Sanitize work stations
Regular hand-washing & station disinfection
Mark and date all stored food
Ensure dishes are prepared to accurate temperature

Station clean up
Disposing of waste & accountability to composting programs
Sweep and mop
Clean all surfaces on the station
Store or dispose of all unused items

Who You Are:

The right person for this role has the strong organizational skills and prioritizes service and cleanliness. Eager to engage with other team members to work together and chooses to be positive and have fun always.

Preference will be given to those who possess:

Previous experience in high volume kitchen or equivalent experience
Time management skills
Thorough understanding of safe food handling
Excellent communication skills
Pastry experience
