Position Overview:
Our Drafters play a critical role in the design process at Raymond EMC, responsible for developing precise 3D models and 2D drawings of RF Shielded Enclosures, Anechoic Chambers, RF components, and custom designs using SOLIDWORKS. These drawings serve dual purposes: they act as contractual documents and clearly convey design intent, ensuring clients understand the specifications of their deliverables. Additionally, manufacturing drawings are essential tools for the production team, enabling accurate ordering and fabrication of required components.
- Position Type: Full-time, In Office
- Location: 400-1430 Blair Towers Place, Ottawa ON
- Compensation Starting at: $60,800/year
- Flexible Scheduling: While this role requires an 8-hour workday in the office, employees have the flexibility to choose their start and end times within a defined range to support work-life balance.
- Time Off: 3 weeks of paid vacation per year | 5 paid sick days per year
- Security Clearance Requirements: Due to the nature of our work, all employees must be able to obtain a clearance with the Government of Canada. For this position, you will be required to obtain a Level 2 - Secret clearance which requires a minimum of 10 years residency in Canada.
Responsibilities:
- Learn the fundamentals of RF (Radio Frequency) shielding.
- Gain knowledge about anechoic chambers and their applications.
- Apply learned knowledge to create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of RF enclosures and components using SOLIDWORKS.
- Create detailed Bill of Materials using SOLIDWORKS.
- Work on variety of projects including small parts and components, vent orders, RF Boxes, deployable shelters and large walk-in RF shields and anechoic chambers.
Requirements:
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Willingness to undergo a criminal background check.
- Ability to obtain a Level 2 Government of Canada Security Clearance. (minimum 10 years residency in Canada)
- Technician or Technology Diploma from an accredited college in either Mechanical, Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Knowledge of different manufacturing practices.
- Minimum 2 years of industry experience with 3D modelling using SOLIDWORKS and 2D drawings using SOLIDWORKS or equivalent.
- Ability to manage complex Bill of materials.
- Ability to work in interdepartmental teams.
- Ability to self-start with strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Willingness and capability to attain the CSWA (Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate) title and pursue advanced SOLIDWORKS credentials beyond that level.
Assets:
- CSWA (Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate) title
- Knowledge of 3D parametric designs/ modelling techniques.
- Experience with large assemblies.
- Experience with SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault.
- Knowledge of RF shielding, wave theory and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
