Job Summary

Research/analyze data on corporate holdings to ensure continuity and relevance to current programs and compliance with the disposal authorities.
Interpret the archival significance of contents of documents in various media against the destruction criteria within the retention procedures/policies/archival disposition schedules relevant to Canadian historical occurrences and developments.
Conduct searches through various information sources of all Corporate Systems to remove particulars to files that are no longer of continued or historical value.
Identify shortcomings in the classification of information and direct responsibility areas to make necessary amendments.
Participate in the establishment and modification of retention/ disposal policies/procedures/guidelines.
Act as a resource person by providing advice/guidance on retention and disposal and by assisting clients in searches for historical information where normal avenues of inquiry have failed to locate

Education

Undergraduate degree and one (1) year of experience*
College diploma and two (2) years of experience*
High school diploma and four(4) years of experience*

The degree must be obtained from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada. If you completed a program outside of Canada, you will be required to obtain proof of a Canadian equivalency at your expense from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada

Any higher level of education (i.e.: Masters, Doctorate) in a related field of study may be recognized as experience.

Experience

Experience working in an Information Management environment including research, analysis and life cycle of information.

Two years (2) of experience providing guidance or services to clients
One year (1) of experience with computer applications related to records or file management
Experience in applying policies and procedures

Assets

An asset qualification is a qualification which can enhance the ability to perform the work based on current and future business requirements, but which is not strictly required. Positions will be staffed based on the selection decision principle and operational priorities.

Experience in performing quality assurance on documents in preparation for preservation, conservation, disposition or digitization.
Experience working with Records Management Information Systems (RMIS).
Knowledge of corporate file classification systems.
Knowledge of Record Disposition Authority (RDA).

Conditions of Employment

Lifting of heavy items is required (boxes of files, equipment, approximately 20 pounds/9 kg).
