Service Technician

Position Summary
Bobcat of Ottawa Valley is seeking a skilled and motivated Service Technician to join our growing team. This position is responsible for the diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and inspection of compact construction equipment, agricultural equipment, commercial turf equipment, and attachments in both shop and field environments.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, a commitment to safety, and a dedication to delivering exceptional service to our customers.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain Bobcat equipment and related attachments.
- Efficiently evaluate equipment condition and determine required repairs.
- Perform mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine diagnostics and repairs.
- Complete pre-delivery inspections (PDIs), scheduled maintenance, and preventative maintenance services.
- Disassemble and reassemble equipment as required for repairs and inspections.
- Identify and order required parts while working closely with the Parts Department.
- Utilize diagnostic software, service manuals, schematics, and technical resources to support repairs.
- Accurately document machine information, repairs performed, parts used, and labor hours on work orders.
- Communicate effectively with the Service Writer, Lead Hand, Service Manager, and Parts Department regarding job status and repair requirements.
- Conduct repairs in a timely and efficient manner while maintaining quality standards.
- Road test equipment and verify proper attachment operation when required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including shop tools and service vehicles.
- Follow all company safety policies and continually assess workplace hazards to ensure work is completed safely and professionally.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Proven ability to diagnose and resolve equipment issues efficiently.
- Experience working with compact construction, agricultural, or heavy equipment.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Proficient with computers and service-related software applications.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and parts catalogs.
- Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and customer satisfaction.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, bend, climb, kneel, and work in various positions for extended periods.
- Ability to perform overhead work and operate hand and power tools safely.
- Ability to work in both shop and field environments.
Experience & Education
- Previous mechanical experience in a heavy equipment, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, or related industry is required.
- Journeyperson certification as a Heavy Equipment Technician or equivalent trade designation is considered a strong asset.
- Valid driver's license required.

Pay: $22.00-$42.00 per hour
