Job Summary

Direct the planning, design, development, testing and implementation of security solutions related to all aspects of the Service's Physical Security Program.
Ensure compliance of CSIS Security Policies, Procedures and Measures in accordance with the Policy on Government Security and associated Standards and Directives.
Research, analyse and develop technical specifications for the evaluation, selection, acquisition, acceptance testing, installation, and maintenance of information processing systems used in security systems: hardware, software and network components.
Oversee, verify, test and commission the installation work performed by contracted security integrators on new information processing systems. Monitor the performance of existing systems, plan and direct upgrades and improvements, troubleshoot problems and resolve issues by researching and analysing the relevant technical documentation, testing and implementing solutions. Consult with industry experts.
Establish, promote, enforce and train users on security procedures insuring that the integrity of the information processing systems used in security systems is maintained. Plan, oversee and recommend processes for the ongoing operations of the information processing systems, including the granting and maintenance of access rights to the systems.
Research, install, evaluate and test hardware and/or software for new applications by assessing their capacities, capabilities, vulnerabilities, reliability and performance towards fulfilling clients/users needs and security requirements.
Provide direct input during the planning, design and implementation stages of projects related to construction, infrastructure, deployment or replacement of equipment. Throughout the process, ensure that client requirements are met and Service Facilities meet security requirements as stated in policies, standards and best practices.
Plan, direct, conduct and review Security Threat and Security Administrative Reviews for CSIS facilities. Throughout the process, ensure sufficient safeguards and adequate defensive measures are in place to protect the Service assets.
Act as a resource person by representing the Service in conferences / seminars, and liaising with the industry: lead agencies, other government departments and operational groups, consultants, manufacturers and suppliers from the private sector, research institutes, security associations.
Implement and ensure compliance of the Emission Security Policies (EMSEC) in relation to the CSIS physical environment and IT Systems during design, construction and life cycle.
Conduct physical security-related investigations, identifying injury to the national interest and providing recommended measures to reduce injury.
Evaluate new security technologies and industry trends for their potential to address business requirements by attending conferences/seminars, meeting with manufacturers and service providers, and reading trade press.
Liaise with other Government Departments and Private Industries to exchange information, methodologies and techniques in the field of physical security.
Conduct information sessions and training seminars in support of the SMS CCTV physical security implementation projects.

Education

Undergraduate degree in a *relevant programs of study and three (3) years of **recent experience.
Undergraduate degree with an ASSIS International (PSP) and three (3) years of **recent experience.
College diploma (3-year program) in the relevant programs of study and four (4) **years of recent experience.
College diploma (2-year program) in the relevant programs of study and five (5) years of **recent experience

Relevant programs of study include:

Security
Electronics
Architecture
Engineering (Mechanical, Electronic, Electrical)

The educational program must be from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada.If you completed a program outside of Canada, you will be required to obtain proof of a Canadian equivalency at your expense through a recognized credential assessment service.

Experience

Three (3) years **recent experience in the interpretation and application of Government Policies and Standards;
Three (3) years **recent experience in researching and analyzing information or data to draw inferences in order to provide recommendations or conclusions verbally or in writing;
Three (3) years of **recent experience working with construction plans and specifications.

**Recent experience is defined within the last ten (10) years managing Security Infrastructure issues by preparing action plans, determining priorities and methodology, monitoring progress and revising/modifying plans accordingly. Only experience related to commercial, industrial, institutional, or office buildings will be considered.
