Position:
The GCNS is looking for an organized and creative Registered Early Childhood Educator to fill the position of Director/Head Teacher.
The Director/Head Teacher is responsible for creating and implementing the preschool’s curriculum, in addition to daily programming and ongoing care of the children. The Director/Head Teacher supervises three Teachers and is supported by a parent volunteer who is present during programming hours.
Outside of classroom hours, the Director/Head Teacher is responsible for fulfilling a variety of administrative duties required for the successful operation of the Preschool. This includes, but is not limited to,
- maintaining compliance with policies and procedures
- ensuring that all licensing requirements are met in accordance with the Ministry of Education guidelines and the Child Care Licensing System
- registration including tours and and admission offers
- city reporting (CWELCC)
About the Preschool:
The GCNS is one of Central Ottawa's longest running preschools. It is a non-profit, CWELCC enrolled licensed childcare centre in which parents can take an active role in creating an exceptional learning environment for their child. Through ongoing participation, parents have the opportunity to share and be involved in their child’s first school experience. A Board of Directors, made up of volunteer parent members, manages the school. The Director/Head Teacher reports to the Board of Directors and is the liaison between the Teachers, parents and Board of Directors.
Qualifications:
-Early Childhood Education Diploma or equivalent.
-Member in good standing with the College of ECEs.
-Standard First Aid and CPR.
-Up to date Police Record Check.
-Minimum five years teaching both Toddler and Preschool children.
-Experience performing administrative functions related to the management of a preschool or daycare.
-Management experience would be preferred.
-Knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act.
-Knowledge of How Does Learning Happen?
-Knowledge of a cooperative environment would be an asset.
-Knowledge of CWELCC and experience with CWELCC reporting obligations would be an asset.
-Knowledge of Digibot would be an asset.

Work Hours:
This position is scheduled for 30–35 hours per week. Children are present 8:30am-11:30am. The school year runs from the end of August to the end of June. Additional paid hours for monthly evening Board of Director meetings and Preschool events outside of regular teaching hours.
Salary Range:
Competitive wage based on experience, starting at $32/hour.

Pay: From $32.00 per hour
