SUMMARY OF DUTIES
This position provides effective and efficient financial accounting, reporting and payment control services for the Ingenium, Canada’s Museum of Science and Innovation Corporation and its Foundation in order to reduce the risk of fraud and ensure compliance and accuracy of the data presented in both financial statements of the Corporation and the Foundation.
EDUCATION
This position requires a minimum of a 2 year post secondary education (University or College) with an accounting or financial background and/or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 2 years working experience in a financial department.
KNOWLEDGE
- Understanding of accounting and audit principles for public institutions in relation to accounts payable, accounts receivable, deferred revenues, prepaids, revenues and expenses as it relates to both a Corporation and a Foundation;
- Good knowledge of the Harmonized Sales Tax
- Act and Income Tax Act for the application of HST based on different provinces;
- Strong knowledge of financial records management, maintaining and tracking records/documentation, balancing and reconciling general and cash accounts;
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting software (knowledge of Sparkrock is an asset);
- Detailed knowledge of software including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook;
- Competency in mathematical calculations;
- Accuracy when verifying, processing and entering transactions;
Knowledge of Ingenium’s policies, procedures and guidelines (asset).
