The Role
The Private Property Parking Enforcement Officer is responsible for monitoring and enforcing parking rules and regulations on privately owned properties. The role helps maintain safe, orderly, and authorized use of parking areas by identifying violations, issuing parking notices or penalties where authorized, documenting incidents, and providing professional customer service to property owners, tenants, visitors, and members of the public.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Patrol assigned private properties, including residential buildings, commercial properties, shopping centres, office complexes, and private parking lots.
Monitor vehicles to ensure compliance with posted parking rules, permits, time restrictions, fire routes, accessible parking requirements, and other applicable restrictions.
Issue parking notices, warnings, or penalties in accordance with company procedures, property-owner instructions, and applicable laws or municipal requirements.
Accurately record vehicle information, location, time, violation details, photographs, and other supporting evidence.
Arrange or request towing of vehicles when authorized and appropriate.
Respond to parking complaints and requests for enforcement from property owners, managers, tenants, or authorized representatives.
Explain parking rules and enforcement decisions clearly and professionally to drivers and members of the public.
Handle disputes and confrontational situations calmly while maintaining professionalism and personal safety.
Maintain accurate patrol logs, incident reports, enforcement records, and other required documentation.
Inspect parking signs and report damaged, missing, obstructed, or unclear signage.
Report suspicious activity, property damage, safety hazards, or security concerns observed during patrols.
Operate handheld enforcement equipment, mobile applications, radios, cameras, and other required technology.
Follow company policies, privacy requirements, occupational health and safety procedures, and applicable legislation.
Communicate with supervisors, property management, towing companies, security personnel, and other authorized parties as required.
Perform vehicle or foot patrols in varying weather conditions and during assigned daytime, evening, overnight, weekend, or holiday shifts.
Requirements
- Valid Ontario Security Guard License
- Minimum of 1 year of security experience
- Must have a Valid G Driver's license with clean abstract
- Strong observation and communication skills
- Professional attitude and reliable attendance
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
