The National Arts Centre (NAC) is Canada's bilingual, multi-disciplinary home for the performing arts. The NAC presents, creates, produces, and co-produces performing arts programming in various streams-the NAC Orchestra, Dance, English Theatre, French Theatre, Indigenous Theatre, and Popular Music and Variety-and nurtures the next generation of audiences and artists from across Canada. The NAC is located in the National Capital Region on the unceded territory of the Anishinabe Algonquin Nation.

Working Hours: Part-Time Term, one (1) year

As required, frequent evening and weekend work.
Occasional work on statutory holidays.

Job Reports To: Producer of Popular Music and Variety

Key Activities

Reporting to the Producer of Popular Music and Variety, the Show Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting live performances for the Popular Music and Variety Department, by serving as the primary in-person liaison for artists and ensuring smooth onsite logistics. This part-time role requires a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, and involves coordination with artists, producers, technical teams, and venue staff to deliver a seamless experience.

Some tasks include but are not limited to:

Setting up dressing rooms with hospitality items;
Providing artist with payment and meals (green room or pick-up, or delivery);
Collecting guestlist names from artists;
Ensure timely start and end of performances;
Work together with the onsite technical team, ushers, and bar staff to ensure everyone is ready for the performance;
Re-organize the dressing room(s) post-performance;
Coordinate with the Producer of each show to ensure all the show advance information is finalized;
Supervise the onsite merchandise seller (when applicable) - coordinate with the artists and NAC seller;
Occasionally pick-up and drop off artists (airport, hotels, etc.);
Conduct weekly hospitality shopping bases on producer-provided lists;

Skill Requirements

Pertinent work experience in project coordination;
Valid driver’s license is required;
Experience in event coordination or artist relations preferred;
Strong organizational and communication skills;
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under pressure;
Able and willing to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends
Smart Serve Ontario certificate is an asset;
Bilingualism in both official languages is required.
