Job Description
AECOM Ottawa is hiring an on-call Senior Municipal Roadway Designer, Transportation.
This is a newly created role.
Responsibilities include but are not restricted to:

Prepare and oversee the development of detailed roadway, municipal infrastructure, and utility design drawings for transportation projects.

Coordinate design activities with engineers, designers, and technical staff across multiple disciplines.

Perform geometric roadway design and assist with the preparation of design reports, specifications, and contract documents.

Support the delivery of municipal infrastructure projects, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, and utility design.

Conduct quality reviews of design drawings and ensure compliance with applicable standards, guidelines, and client requirements.

Liaise with internal project teams, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies as required.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers and technical staff.

Assist with project planning, scheduling, and coordination to support successful project delivery.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering plus 6 years of experience in transportation, roadway, municipal infrastructure, and utility design; OR Technical Diploma plus 8 years of relevant experience; OR High School Diploma plus 10 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience using Civil 3D and AutoCAD for transportation and municipal infrastructure projects.

Past experience working on City of Ottawa, MTO and other Ontario municipalities projects.

Strong knowledge of Ontario transportation and municipal design standards.

Experience delivering roadway reconstruction, rehabilitation, and municipal servicing projects.

Familiarity with MTO, municipal, and regional design guidelines.

Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

Experience working in a consulting engineering environment.
