The Procurement Specialist is responsible for the procurement strategy and budget for La Vie’s clinics. This role oversees and supports coordination of all sourcing, purchasing, and vendor management across La Vie while ensuring that procurement activities are efficient, cost effective, strategic, and aligned with La Vie’s business objectives.
This role manages La Vie’s procurement processes end-to-end and works collaboratively with business units and Finance to ensure appropriate procurement oversight and risk management.
This role will start at our downtown Ottawa location with relocation to our Kanata clinic in the summer/fall timeframe.
Responsibilities
Procurement Strategy
- Develop and execute a firm wide procurement strategy and budget that supports La Vie’s long term operational, clinical, and financial objectives.
- Establish procurement policies, governance, and best practices tailored for a multi-clinic environment.
- Lead strategic sourcing initiatives to drive cost savings and service excellence.
- Keep up to date on procurement trends, market intelligence, risk mitigation, and purchasing best practices.
Procurement Management
- Oversee procurement processes, including sourcing, purchase orders, renewals, and vendor performance.
- Define standards and KPIs for procurement management and implement improvements to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
- Ensure all purchases align with La Vie policies, budgets, and operational standards.
- Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure the best pricing and service terms.
- Track contract renewals and proactively manage timelines to avoid auto-renewals or service disruption.
Inventory Control
- Maintain records of inventory in all La Vie clinics and track medical, lab, office, and clinic supplies.
- Collaborate with clinic managers to ensure critical items are fully stocked.
- Reconcile inventory with e-records and investigate and correct any discrepancies.
Financial & Risk Management
- Collaborate with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, spend management, and savings targets.
- Proactively identify cost reduction opportunities while maintaining quality and service standards.
- Evaluate supplier risk and implement mitigation strategies for critical vendor dependencies.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with business units to understand procurement needs and support vendor selection processes.
- Educate internal stakeholders on procurement processes and act as a strategic partner to business units across La Vie.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Business Administration, Finance, Supply Chain Management or a related field; or equivalent experience preferably in a healthcare environment.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in purchasing, procurement, and supply chain management.
- Experience in cost analysis and developing and managing procurement budgets.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
