Position Summary:

Manage day to day operation of high precision optical coating lab from scheduling to deposition process to maintenance; from design to process development for two coating machines.

Typical Duties:

Manage precision coating lab day to day operation
Design optical coatings and implement in production.
Troubleshoot and resolve deposition processes problems.
Develop processes for handling, cleaning and inspection of fibers and other optical components.
Supervise and train a team of technicians and engineers in the operation and maintenance of deposition equipment.
Coordinate maintenance, repair, and calibration for coating chambers and measurement tools, and recommend and implement coating technology that will improve operational efficiency and/or add new or improved capabilities.
Provide technical support for current and potential customers, including but not limited to design, process development, and production.

Education:

Equivalent to a University Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.

Experience:

The ideal candidate will have 7 to 10 years’ experience in deposition techniques including e-beam, sputtering, IAD and thermal deposition.
Experience in thin film design and measurement and characterization is required.
Strong experience with optical thin film design packages like Optilayer, Mclac, McLeod and other similar software
Will have strong project management and communication skills.
Proven track record of bringing projects in on time and within budget.
Must have previous supervisory experience in a technical production environment.

Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
