STATUS: FULL-TIME
REASON TO POST: DIRECT REPLACEMENT
WAGE RATE: $39.16 – $50.77

Reporting to the Manager, Outpatient Mental Health Services, the BSW/MHC-B C will implement and monitor services to meet the needs of individuals with significant mental health needs. The BSW/MHC-B must be able to function independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team and work cooperatively with multiple service providers. This position requires travel throughout the catchment area (Grey and Bruce Counties) to deliver programs and to meet the needs of clients. Responsibility for a case management caseload is required. This position is initially targeted to work in our Assertive Community Treatment Team with the understanding that the BSW/MHC-B is a member of Outpatient Mental Health Services and as such may be assigned to another program as needed.

Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:

BSW:

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and membership in the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW)

MHC-B:

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or a related health or Social Service field
Current registration in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO)

Both:

Minimum two years’ experience working in a multidisciplinary team
Experience in Crisis Intervention/emergency psychiatry and working with community agencies
Familiarity with principles and practice of intensive case management, rehabilitation and the Recovery model for persons with serious mental illness
Working Knowledge of Mental Health ACT and DSM-V
Psycho/Social and mental status assessment skills
Ability to provide a wide range of counselling, support, advocacy and education services to family members and others of significance in the patient’s life
Ability to provide practicum supervision of students in the field of Social Work
Ability to communicate positively and professionally with family members, community providers and physicians
Extensive traveling required – Possession of a valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License and personal vehicle
Ability to work closely as a member of a team and share responsibilities
Knowledge of medication side effects and coping strategies
Excellent organizational skills and scheduling abilities
Ability to co-ordinate multiple departmental interests to provide quality patient care
Ability to problem solve and make effective decisions during highly stressful and potentially violent emergency situations
Willingness to learn new concepts and integrate them into practice
Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record
Adherence to Brightshores ‘CARE’ Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) and ‘LEAD’ Competencies (Lead by example, Empower, Achieve results, Develop others) and a commitment to a safe workplace free of violence and harassment
Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at Brightshores through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes
