Our client, a well-established full-service cleaning company, are currently seeking a Lead Hand/Heavy Duty Cleaner for one of their facilities in Owen Sound. This is a permanent, full-time role with wages ranging from $18.75 to $19.30/hr based on experience and responsibilities.

About The Role
The Lead Hand/Heavy Duty Cleaner is responsible for overseeing daily cleaning operations while also performing hands-on cleaning duties. The Lead Hand helps provide direction to janitorial staff, ensures cleaning standards are consistently met, monitors supplies and equipment, reports maintenance concerns, and communicates with supervisors to help ensure the facility remains clean, safe, and well maintained. Other responsibilities may include:
- Cleaning & Disinfecting Washrooms Including: Toilets, Sinks, Mirrors, Floors, Showers & Fixtures
- Sweeping/Mopping/Washing Floors, Stairs & Other Surfaces
- Stripping & Waxing Floors/Steam Cleaning Carpets
- Cleaning Office Spaces, Cafeterias, Common Areas & High-Touch Surfaces
- Washing Windowsills, Interior Doors, Partitions, Entrance Doors, Glass & Trim
- Emptying Garbage & Recycling Bins, Replacing Liners & Moving Waste To Designated Collection Areas
- Performing High Dusting & Wall Washing
- Restocking Paper Products, Soap & Other Washroom Supplies
- Reporting Maintenance Issues to Supervisors to Ensure Prompt Attention
- Operating Compactors & Heavy-Duty Cleaning Equipment
- Monitoring Cleaning Supplies/Equipment & Reporting Shortages or Concerns
- Providing Direction & Assistance to Other Janitorial Staff Where Required
- Ensuring Cleaning Standards & Company Procedures Consistently Followed
- Other Tasks As Assigned
Qualifications
- Previous Cleaning or Janitorial Experience Is Preferred
- Previous Experience in a Lead Hand or Supervisory Role Considered an Asset
- Ability to Take Direction & Work With Minimal Supervision
- Ability To Work Independently & as Part of Team
- Ability To Use Cleaning Tools, Equipment & Heavy-Duty Machinery
- Must Have Own Transportation
- Strong Attention To Detail & Pride In Delivering Excellent Service
- Ability To Stand For Long Periods Of Time & Perform Physically Demanding Tasks
- Must Be Comfortable Working Outdoors In Varying Weather Conditions
- Must Be Able To Lift Upwards of 50 Lbs
- Must Be Able To Pass A Criminal Background Check
