The Roxy Theatre, owned and operated by the Owen Sound Little Theatre, is the premier regional destination for live theatre and music performances. Built circa 1913, this historic soft-seat opera house accommodates 400 people, and is located in Owen Sound’s historic downtown core.

The Owen Sound Little Theatre is a not-for-profit charitable organization. The membership is comprised of hardworking volunteer members from very diverse backgrounds who produce high quality theatrical productions.

In addition to OSLT productions, we offer The Roxy Presents Series, featuring various art forms and our new Music at the Roxy Series, featuring Canadian musicians. We are also the home of the Roxy Young Company, which includes workshops, camps and shows and the Roxy Star Company, our valued program for adults with diverse abilities. The Roxy is also regularly rented to concert promoters and artists throughout Ontario and numerous community groups for special events and recitals.

Job description

If you love the arts and are a people person, this is the job for you! The Roxy Theatre is seeking a Box Office Attendant to work evening shifts, including the odd daytime shift throughout the season as part of the Roxy staff team. Flexibility with hours is needed for special events and ongoing Owen Sound Little Theatre and Roxy Theatre programming. Our schedule is created well in advance making this the perfect flexible job to work with your schedule. The successful candidate will provide customer service and sales assistance to patrons who call our box office or visit the theatre to make ticket purchases or sales inquiries. Candidates must be comfortable with both email correspondence, phone sales and walk-up sales situations.

Responsibilities:

*Provide customer service to theatre patrons

*Complete sales, refunds, membership purchases and donations, with patrons on phone or in-person, utilizing ticketing software

*Monitor and reply to email inquiries (as needed during day shift)

*Keeping track of bar and 50/50 floats to make sure they have sufficient change for all upcoming events

*Counting cash drawer at the beginning of shift, and balancing at end of shift

*Maintain the bulletin board (as needed during day shift)

*Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

*Excellent customer service skills

*Friendly and professional demeanor

*Must be able to problem solve, think on your feet, act with tact and diplomacy and maintain patron confidentiality

*Proven ability to multi-task

*Possess strong communication, organizational and people skills

*Experience working with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite an asset

*Strong computer skills are essential

*Proficiency with handling money transactions

*Previous sales and/or Box Office experience an asset

Schedule:

3 hour evening shifts
4-5 hour day shifts (as needed)
Weekends

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
