Full job description

Saywell Contracting is seeking motivated, skilled, and dependable construction professionals to join our growing team. We are currently hiring Carpenters, Lead Hand Carpenters, and Foremen for large-scale commercial and industrial construction projects. Projects located in Nanaimo and Parksville. Wage dependent on experience and role.

Carpenter

Responsibilities:

Perform all aspects of carpentry work including framing, forming, finishing, and installation.
Read and interpret drawings and specifications.
Maintain a safe and organized work area.
Work collaboratively with site supervisors and fellow trades.

Qualifications:

Previous commercial or industrial construction experience preferred.
Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Lead Hand Carpenter

Responsibilities:

Lead and mentor a crew while remaining hands-on in daily carpentry activities.
Coordinate work activities and ensure tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
Assist with scheduling, material management, and quality control.
Communicate effectively with site supervision and subcontractors.

Qualifications:

Journeyperson Carpenter certification or equivalent experience.
Proven leadership experience on commercial or industrial projects.
Strong organizational and communication skills.

Foreman

Responsibilities:

Supervise and coordinate site crews and daily construction activities.
Ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and to project specifications.
Support the Site Superintendent with project planning, scheduling, and workforce coordination.
Monitor productivity, quality, and site safety compliance.
Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Extensive experience in commercial and industrial construction.
Experience managing projects ranging from $5 million to $25 million.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, schedules, and specifications.
