Job Description:

POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:
The Community Ministries Worker assists in organization of food bank and distribution of donations.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Client Services:

Conducts initial intake assessments (including evaluation of client/protection issues), determining immediate needs and supports needed by the client
Provide emergency assistance and/or other forms of direct service for clients applicable to the program;
Maintains confidentiality and keeps accurate client files and statistical records.
Assists in the organization, maintenance and general cleanliness of the food bank and family services area
Other duties as assigned.

MANAGERIAL/TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY:

This position reports directly to the Community Ministries Program Coordinator
This position has no direct reports

FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:

Effective distribution of food bank donations

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Working environment is typically in the office in generally agreeable conditions
Travel within city may be required to pick up food bank donations

The above responsibilities must be discharged in accordance with The Salvation Army’s Mission Statement, in a professional manner, exemplifying Christian standards of conduct.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Qualifications and Certifications:

High School diploma, plus additional education in the social work or human services field

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:

Up to one year related experience
Respect and understanding of The Salvation Army - its mission, culture, and values

Note: Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Skills and Capabilities:

Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Understanding for individuals of diverse social and cultural backgrounds
Good computer skills with working knowledge of MS Office
Ability to work with minimal supervision

This is a 6 months temporary part time position.

Weekly scheduled hours: 16

Target hiring range for this position is min $18.50 per hour to mid $23.13 per hour and max at $27.76 per hour.

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $18.50 to $23.13 with a maximum of $27.76.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
