Accounting Specialist

Join Our Team!

We are seeking an experienced, highly organized Accounting Specialist to oversee the accounting functions of our busy and growing collision repair facility.

This is a hands-on position for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, has a strong understanding of cost accounting, and takes pride in maintaining accurate financial records while supporting the overall success of the business.

Key Responsibilities

Manage all day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll support.
Oversee accounts receivable collections, ensuring timely follow-up on outstanding balances while maintaining positive customer and insurance partner relationships.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements and reports.
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts.
Maintain accurate job costing and inventory records.
Analyze labour, materials, and overhead costs to ensure accurate cost accounting and profitability reporting.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and government reporting requirements.
Work closely with ownership and the management team to provide financial analysis and recommendations that improve operational efficiency and profitability.
Coordinate with external accountants during year-end and tax preparation.

Qualifications

Post-secondary degree or diploma in business administration/accounting.
CPA designation is considered an asset.
Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the automotive, collision repair, or manufacturing industry.
Strong understanding of cost accounting and job costing principles.
Experience managing accounts receivable and collections.
Excellent organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Advanced proficiency with accounting software (Quickbooks) and Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with all departments.
Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
