Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is a 315-bed academic and teaching hospital that provides specialized mental health, addiction and geriatric care. Located on the shores of Georgian Bay, we serve some of the most complex and disadvantaged individuals in Ontario and are the sole provider of high-secure forensic mental health services in the province.
The North Simcoe Muskoka Specialized Geriatric Services (NSM SGS) Program is a regional program under the leadership of Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care. The NSM SGS program was established in 2016 to advance the care of frail older adults in the NSM region and their caregivers. With a mandate for leadership, clinical service, education and mentorship, research and ethics as well as advocacy, the program collaborates with a broad variety of partners from within and outside the NSM health system to improve patient outcomes, build capacity and foster system change.
The Manager of Geriatric Mental Health is currently seeking a Full Time Registered Behavioural Analyst. The purpose of the position is to deliver evidence-based behavioural services within a recovery-oriented program for individuals presenting with complex mental health conditions and challenging behaviours. Utilizing a bio-psychosocial framework and the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), the Registered Behaviour Analyst conducts functional assessments, develops and implements behavioural intervention plans, and evaluates treatment effectiveness through data-informed decision-making. As a key member of the interprofessional team, the role contributes to integrated care plans, supports clinical staff through consultation, and promotes safe, therapeutic, and goal-directed care aligned with best practice standards. The Registered Behaviour Analyst also supervises unregistered and provisionally registered ABA providers, ensuring high-quality care is provided.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Provide technical supervision to unregistered and provisionally registered providers (Supervised Behaviour Technicians) as set forth by the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario, ensuring adherence to ethical and professional standards.
- Enter into a Waypoint-approved Supervision Agreement – Behavioural Therapy with the Supervised Behaviour Technicians and comply with all terms and conditions outlined in the agreement.

Conduct comprehensive bio-psychosocial and behavioural assessments, including functional behaviour assessments, preference assessments, and skill evaluations using standardized, evidence-based tools.
- Document, analyze, and interpret data derived from observations of behaviour, treatment responses, and functional abilities to inform assessment, diagnosis, and intervention planning.

Prepare clear and accurate assessment reports, behavioural formulations, and behavioural intervention plans in accordance with professional standards and organizational policy.

Collaborate with interprofessional teams to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized, evidence-based behavioural intervention plans to support skill development, symptom management, and recovery-focused goals.
- Incorporate ABA principles and therapeutic techniques to help patients/clients develop coping abilities, improve adaptive and social functioning, and engage in meaningful leisure activities while effectively managing behavioural challenges and crises.

Monitor treatment effectiveness using data-informed decision-making, modifying interventions as needed to ensure optimal outcomes and continuity of care.

Participate as an active member of the interprofessional team, contributing to integrated treatment plans, case conferences, care reviews, and discharge planning.
- Provide consultation and supportive counselling to clients, families, and care providers to enhance understanding of behaviour and promote effective care strategies.

Support safe and therapeutic environments by identifying risk factors, reporting safety concerns, and assisting with crisis response when required.

Provide training, coaching, mentoring, and role-modeling to staff, students, and care partners to enhance skill, confidence, and consistency in managing responsive behaviours.
- Facilitate knowledge translation practices by developing and delivering behaviour-focused education for patients/clients, families, team members, and care partners.

Contribute to program development, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing behavioural care, safety, and recovery outcomes.
- Coordinate and monitor service delivery to ensure interventions are timely, integrated, person-centered, and aligned with best practices and organizational goals.

Actively engages in professional development and education activities to maintain and further professional competence and best practices.
- Participates in ad-hoc working groups as required.

Develops and maintains a liaison between Waypoint and other professional groups.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Registration with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO) as a Registered Behaviour Analyst in good standing is required.

A Master’s Degree in Applied Behaviour Analysis or Behavioural Science Technology Diploma or Autism and Behavioural Science Graduate Program is required.

Preference will be given to those with an active BCBA or BCBA-D Certification in good standing with the Behavioural Analyst Certification Board (BACB).

A minimum of two years of experience in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) is required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience supporting older adults and individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, and/or neurocognitive needs.
