Under the general supervision of the Retail Services & Logistics Manager, the Retail Customer Service Representative – On-Call provides high-level customer service to students, staff, and the public through Campus Store pop-up retail operations and customer order pick-up stations during peak periods and as scheduled. This role performs functions directly related to the retail sale of goods, including operating temporary retail and pick-up locations, processing transactions, receiving and shipping merchandise, shelving and labeling or tagging products, and creating and maintaining attractive pop-up retail displays to effectively merchandise goods. The position also assists with inventory and cost control records and performs other related duties within Ancillary and Business Services as required.
- Provides excellent customer service by developing rapport, building customer confidence, and providing accurate information and assistance with product selection at Campus Store pop-up retail locations and customer order pick-up stations; demonstrates knowledge of products, services, and inventory; responds to customer questions regarding product features, availability, and benefits; and addresses customer inquiries or concerns in a timely and professional manner to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Provides cashier duties for Campus Store pop-up retail operations by processing card payments, maintaining accurate transaction records and cash balances, and printing daily cash settlement documentation for Daily Statement of Business (DSB) reporting; follows all cash handling and point of sale policies and procedures, including securing point of sale terminals using approved methods.
- Contributes to store profitability and maximizes sales opportunities by proactively identifying customer needs, engaging in suggestive selling, and promoting products, sales, and promotions; maintains current knowledge of product information, inventory, and promotional activities.
- Performs general retail duties including facilitating the sale of clothing, stationery, gifts, convenience items, course materials, and general merchandise; maintains consistent visual merchandising and housekeeping standards to ensure merchandise displays are orderly, fully stocked, and visually appealing by folding or rehanging clothing, dusting displays, reorganizing merchandise, and restocking products throughout the day.
- Receives deliveries of merchandise and customer orders, verifying shipments against packing slips or purchase orders to ensure inventory accuracy; communicates discrepancies promptly to the Retail Services & Logistics Manager; safely stores received goods in designated locations to maintain organized work areas; ships and receives materials between campuses; prepares internal packing slips and invoices for payment processing; maintains records related to merchandise distributed to sponsored students and OC staff, including confirmation of required approvals; and picks, packages, and ships ecommerce orders.
- Coordinates and distributes course material and customer order pickups during peak periods through in-person pick-up operations and by loading smart lockers for after-hours and non-peak period collection; serves as a frontline contact for customer questions or concerns related to course materials and order pickups; assists customers with locker pickups as required; and works collaboratively with the Retail Services & Logistics Manager and Customer Experience & Ecommerce Specialist to resolve order discrepancies, customer concerns, and service issues in a timely manner.
- Provides feedback and recommendations to the Retail Services & Logistics Manager regarding customer purchasing trends, product requests, and campus-specific merchandise needs; identifies opportunities for future merchandise selection and stocking based on customer demand, seasonal trends, and campus activity.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and organized workspace and pop-up retail environment, including performing general housekeeping and daytime custodial duties such as dusting shelves, wiping workstations, and maintaining orderly displays and storage areas.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required education level is completion of secondary school
Minimum of one year years recent customer service, retail and/or cashier experience required.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to customer service excellence and the delivery of a positive retail and customer pick-up experience.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to deal tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally with students, staff, clients, vendors, and the public.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships in a collaborative, team-oriented environment to support high levels of customer service.
- Sales-oriented with the ability to identify opportunities to enhance customer experience, increase sales, and improve Campus Store services and merchandise offerings.

- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment with changing priorities, high work volumes, and competing deadlines, particularly during peak operational periods.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to communicate promptly and effectively regarding operational issues, customer concerns, and service requirements.
- Proficient computer skills, including experience using point-of-sale systems, ecommerce platforms, inventory systems, and standard office software; ability to generate reports and troubleshoot routine system or data entry issues.
- Ability to maintain a positive, professional, and customer-focused attitude in a dynamic work environment.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations accurately for cash handling, inventory, and retail transactions.
- Physical ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds.
