Junior Kindergarten Teacher / Early Childhood Educator (ECE)

About the Position
Okanagan Montessori is seeking an enthusiastic, nurturing, and experienced BC Certified Teacher and/or BC Licensed Early Childhood Educator (ECE) to lead our mixed age Kindergarten Program/ Preschool Program
This position is ideal for an educator who is passionate about early learning, understands child development, and enjoys creating engaging, hands-on learning experiences that foster independence, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.
Montessori training and experience are considered a significant asset.
Qualifications
Required:
- Valid BC Teaching Certificate and/or BC Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certificate
- Current First Aid Certification
- Criminal Record Check clearance
- Strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practice
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with families and fellow educators
Preferred:
- Montessori certification
- Previous experience teaching Junior Kindergarten, Kindergarten, Preschool, or Primary-aged children
- Experience planning and implementing curriculum
- Knowledge of emergent curriculum, inquiry-based learning, and/or Montessori philosophy
- Experience observing, documenting, and assessing children's development
- Leadership experience within an educational setting
Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and implement a high-quality Junior Kindergarten program
- Create a safe, engaging, and nurturing classroom environment
- Develop and deliver age-appropriate curriculum that supports cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and academic growth
- Foster independence, responsibility, and self-confidence in children
- Observe and document children's progress and development
- Maintain positive and professional relationships with families
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding children's growth and learning experiences
- Collaborate with colleagues to support program goals and school initiatives
- Ensure compliance with licensing regulations, health and safety requirements, and school policies
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events
