The Kore Dance Project is one of the Okanagan's leading dance studios, providing high-quality dance education in a positive, supportive, and professional environment.
We are currently seeking an experienced Preschool Dance Instructor to join our teaching team. This position focuses on teaching dancers ages 2–6 and helping create a fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate introduction to dance.
This is not an entry-level teaching position. We are looking for an instructor who can confidently lead classes, manage a classroom of young dancers, create engaging lesson plans, and deliver an exceptional experience for both students and families.
Position Overview
The Experienced Preschool Dance Instructor is responsible for creating a fun, safe, and engaging learning environment where young dancers can develop confidence, coordination, creativity, musicality, and a lifelong love of dance.
The successful candidate will take ownership of their classes while following studio curriculum and expectations. They will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, preparing students for performances, and contributing positively to our studio culture.
Teaching Responsibilities
- Teach preschool dance classes for dancers ages 2–6
- Create a positive, encouraging, and engaging classroom environment
- Follow studio curriculum, lesson plans, and class themes
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate lessons and activities
- Teach foundational dance skills, movement concepts, and musicality
- Encourage participation, confidence, and personal growth in every dancer
- Maintain strong classroom management and behaviour expectations
- Ensure all dancers are actively engaged and supported throughout class
- Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of individual students
Choreography & Performances
- Teach recital routines and performance material
- Select and use age-appropriate music approved by the studio
- Ensure choreography and class content are age-appropriate and aligned with studio standards
- Prepare dancers for performances, showcases, and year-end productions
- Attend required rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and performances
Administration
- Complete attendance through studio software for each class
- Complete evaluations, progress reports, and assessments as required
- Distribute studio information when requested
- Promote studio programs, events, and activities
- Complete administrative tasks related to classes and students
- Other duties as assigned
Communication
- Build positive relationships with dancers and families
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with parents and guardians
- Work collaboratively with fellow instructors and studio leadership
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities as required
- Represent the studio professionally both inside and outside the classroom
Health & Safety
- Maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all students
- Supervise dancers at all times during class
- Conduct basic safety checks of equipment used during class
- Report safety concerns promptly to studio leadership
- Ensure all equipment and teaching materials are properly stored after use
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of dance teaching experience
- Experience teaching preschool-aged dancers (ages 2–6)
- Strong classroom management skills
- Ability to independently plan and deliver engaging lessons
- Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate expectations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional, reliable, and organized
- Valid Criminal Record Check
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of preschool dance teaching experience
- Experience teaching ballet, jazz, creative movement, and combination classes
- Dance/child care certifications and/or post-secondary dance training
- First Aid Certification
- Experience preparing students for recitals and performances

Schedule
- Part-time
