Job Description Title: Security Supervisor
Division/Department: Signal Security of the Okanagan
Reports To: Operations Manager / Managing Director
Location: Kelowna, BC
Salary: $55,000 - $70,000 annually, dependent on education, licensing, and experience

About the Role:
The Security Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership, operational oversight, and frontline support for Signal Security of the Okanagan’s security operations throughout the Okanagan region. This position supports the management team in overseeing staffing, scheduling, training, compliance, emergency response, quality assurance, and client relations across multiple sites and service contracts.
The Security Supervisor serves as a working leader who may be required to respond directly to incidents, support field staff, conduct patrols, attend client meetings, and provide operational coverage as needed. This role requires strong leadership abilities, sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to thrive in fast-paced and high-pressure environments.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and problem solving skills while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Field Supervision
- Provide direct supervision and operational support for security guards, mobile patrol officers, and event staff.
- Conduct site visits, quality assurance inspections, and spot checks to ensure compliance with post orders and company standards.
- Assist in scheduling coverage for all client sites and support emergency staffing requirements.
- Maintain a bullpen of trained and deployable security personnel available for operational coverage.
- Respond to incidents, emergencies, alarm activations, and client concerns as required.
- Provide after-hours operational support and on-call assistance when necessary.
- Conduct patrols, unlocks/lockups, welfare checks, and alarm responses when operationally required.
- Ensure all reports are completed accurately and within established timelines according to standard operating procedures.
- Support investigations relating to incidents, employee performance, or client concerns.
Recruitment, Training & Staff Development
- Support recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of security personnel.
- Assist with employee orientations and site-specific training.
- Mentor, coach, and support frontline staff development.
- Ensure employees maintain required certifications, licenses, and operational readiness.
- Assist with disciplinary actions, coaching documentation, and performance management in conjunction with management.
- Promote positive morale, accountability, professionalism, and customer service excellence within the team.
Fleet, Equipment & Inventory Management
- Assist with inventory management of uniforms, radios, body cameras, PPE, keys, access cards, and operational equipment.
- Support mobile fleet management, including cleanliness, maintenance coordination, fuel tracking, and vehicle inspections.
- Ensure operational equipment is properly maintained, documented, and available for deployment.
Client Relations & Administrative Support
- Maintain professional relationships with clients, tenants, contractors, emergency services, and law enforcement.
- Support management in client meetings, operational planning, and service delivery discussions.
- Prepare operational reports, incident summaries, staffing updates, and quality assurance documentation.
- Ensure confidentiality regarding employees, operations, incidents, and client information.
- Follow all Signal Security of the Okanagan policies, procedures, and professional standards.
Education, Experience & Related Requirements
- Advanced Security Training (AST) certification;
- Basic Security Training (BST) Course;
- Valid British Columbia Security Worker’s License;
- Valid British Columbia Driver’s License (Class 4 or Class 5);
- Clean driver’s abstract (ICBC);
- Valid CPR & Occupational First Aid Level 1 required;
- OFA Level 2 considered an asset
- Secondary School Diploma or equivalent;
- Minimum 3–5 years of security, supervisory, military, law enforcement, or related operational experience preferred;
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience strongly preferred
- Strong leadership skills with a focus on operations, accountability, and customer service
- Strong conflict resolution, de-escalation, and people management abilities
- Ability to identify operational issues and implement effective solutions
- Strong organizational, planning, and multitasking abilities
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills; candidates may be requested to provide IELTS (or equivalent) results
- High level of integrity, professionalism, confidentiality, and accountability
- Strong report writing, computer, and administrative skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience with scheduling, reporting, and workforce management systems considered an asset.
Working Conditions
This position may involve sitting, standing, walking, or driving for extended periods of time. Working conditions generally include 8-, 10-, or 12-hour shifts, including day, afternoon, overnight, weekend, and holiday assignments depending on operational requirements.
Employees may experience mental and physical stress and may be exposed to:
- Adverse weather conditions
- High traffic or tenant volume
- Emergency and alarm response situations
- Medium to high threat environments
- Aggressive or confrontational individuals
- Interrupted breaks and spontaneous shift extensions
- Extended operational or emergency response periods
- Frequent travel between client sites
This role may occasionally require physical labour, including assisting with site safety measures such as snow shoveling, salting walkways, lifting equipment, or emergency site support functions.
The successful candidate must be able to:

- Handle direction from multiple supervisors and clients
- Remain available for short-notice operational support when required
