Fedorki requires an experienced Designer to support industrial fabrication, machining, and field‑installation projects. The role focuses on producing accurate fabrication drawings and engineered design packages for industrial equipment, structural assemblies, platforms, guarding, process‑piping components, and custom mechanical systems.
The Designer will work directly with clients, fabricators, machinists and welders to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and aligned with industrial standards and regulations. This position also includes project coordination responsibilities to support efficient execution from concept through commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical / Structural Design
- Translate client and project requirements into functional mechanical/structural designs for industrial equipment and retrofit projects.
- Develop fabrication-ready drawings, BOMs, and models using SolidWorks, Inventor, and AutoCAD.
- Support prototyping, fit-up, assembly, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Conduct internal and client-facing design reviews.
- Produce and maintain documentation: drawings, manuals, commissioning protocols, and revision control.
Project Management
- Support projects from initiation through closeout, assisting with scope, schedule, budget, and communication.
- Act as a technical point of contact for clients during design and fabrication phases.
- Coordinate with fabrication, machining, engineering, and external vendors/freelance designers.
- Identify and manage risks, issues, and design changes.
- Provide clear project updates, progress reports, and milestone tracking.
Candidate Requirements
Education / Certifications
- Degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Structural Design Technology (or related).
- P.Eng. or Limited License is an asset, not required.
Experience
- 7–10 years of mechanical/structural design experience in industrial fabrication, automation, equipment manufacturing, or heavy industry.
- Proven ability to produce fabrication-ready drawings for welded structures, frames, platforms, piping components, and mechanical assemblies.
- Experience collaborating directly with fabrication and machining teams.
- Demonstrated project management capability (budgets, schedules, client communication).
Skills / Competencies
- Proficiency with SolidWorks, Inventor, and/or AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of industrial equipment design, steel structures, process piping, and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to interpret and apply industrial codes/standards (CSA, ASME, OBC).
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- High attention to detail; practical, hands-on problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced fabrication environment.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $35.00-$55.00 per hour
