The Hospice Hub is recruiting a part-time Executive Director
As we prepare for continued growth, we are seeking an inspiring and experienced Executive Director to advance our mission and vision.
The Hospice Hub, a federally incorporated not-for-profit, is a community-led initiative that provides comprehensive, compassionate, and integrated services to support anyone at end of life and bereavement, including their family and caregivers. Our programs and services include Hospice Visiting, The Hospice Hub Day Program, Grief and Bereavement Support, and Community Education at no cost to participants. We serve individuals who use the services of the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital, including Perth, Smiths Falls, Lanark, Portland, Westport and surrounding areas. We are exploring opportunities of initiating a feasibility study on the development of a new hospice residence.
Position overview
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership. The Executive Director oversees the day-to-day operations to ensure the delivery of compassionate, high-quality hospice care. The Executive Director works collaboratively with staff, volunteers, healthcare partners, and the community to achieve the organization’s goals.
Key areas of responsibility
- Leadership & strategy – lead the strategic plan, fund development, and the feasibility study for a new hospice residence in collaboration with the Board.
- Operations & program oversight – manage the day-to-day operations to ensure the delivery of high quality hospice care. Oversee the implementation and evaluation of the our hospice care services, grief and bereavement support, volunteer management, and support services to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with Hospice Palliative Care Ontario (HPCO) quality of care standards.
- Human resource & volunteer leadership – lead the recruitment and development of staff and volunteers, fostering a culture of collaboration, diversity, inclusion, and learning.
- Fundraising & community engagement – lead fund development, donor relations, and grant applications. And build strong partnerships with healthcare providers and the community.
- Financial & risk management – develop and implement the operational plan and budget; ensure timely financial reporting to the Board; and identify and manage operational, financial, and organizational risks.
Qualifications & experience
- Senior leadership experience in healthcare, community-based services, or not-for-profit organizations.
- Post-secondary degree in business administration, commerce, healthcare, social services or a related discipline. A master’s degree would be considered an asset.
- Demonstrated experience in fund development, community engagement, and project management.
- Skilled in program development, financial management, and quality and risk management.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and team building skills.
