Full job description

Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable and organized Kitchen Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operation of our retirement residence kitchen. The successful candidate will help ensure residents receive safe, nutritious, and enjoyable meals while maintaining high standards of food safety, cleanliness, organization, and service.

This position is well suited to someone who is comfortable supervising a kitchen team, working directly with seniors, and assisting with meal preparation when required.

Responsibilities

Supervise and support kitchen and dietary staff during daily operations
Coordinate meal preparation and service according to established menus and schedules
Prepare and serve meals when required
Monitor food quality, portion sizes, presentation, and service standards
Receive deliveries and ensure food is stored safely and appropriately
Maintain kitchen cleanliness and ensure proper sanitation procedures are consistently followed
Ensure compliance with food-safety requirements, residence policies, and applicable public health standards
Maintain accurate temperature logs, cleaning records, inventory records, and other required documentation
Report equipment, staffing, supply, and food-quality concerns promptly
Complete all required onboarding and ongoing workplace training
Perform other kitchen and dietary responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements

Valid Safe Food Handling Certificate
Previous experience working in a commercial, institutional, healthcare, or retirement-home kitchen
Dependable, professional, and able to work calmly in a busy environment
Reliable transportation to and from the residence
Willing and able to complete all required onboarding and ongoing training
