To be successful as a Payroll & Benefits Administrator you should have strong numeracy skills and be able to multitask effectively. Ultimately, an outstanding payroll administrator should be able to manage all aspects of payroll in a timely and accurate manner.
A. NATURE & SCOPE OF POSITION:
- Administer all aspects of payroll and benefits processes.
- Duties include the controls of employee data, ensuring the accuracy of timesheets, uploading information into payroll system for computation of wages and ensuring employees are paid correctly and on time.
B. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process and transmit the weekly payroll for all employees.
- Process and remit all related deductions/benefits (RRSP Plan)
- Register new hires for benefits and process all required documentation. Enter employees into Enterprise & Desjardins system
- Record all training activities that include orientation, procedural training and job related training for all new hires and internal transfers. Ensure all training documentation is completed and recorded on matrixes that verifies employees have received proper and adequate training in Health & Safety.
- Implementation of the probationary review process for all new production hires.
- Implementation of years of service recognition program(Terryberry)
- Maintain employee files ie training, benefits, accidents and medical. Entry of required information into the time & attendance, excel and payroll systems.
- Track hourly employee attendance, identify and report disciplinary actions in accordance with the company attendance program. Preparation of documents for Human Resources Manager of actionable items.
- Liaise with the temporary staffing agency for matters such as issuing clock numbers, tracking and reporting on agency employees.
- Assist with recruitment of open positions.
- Other duties as assigned.
C. EDUCATION:
- Minimum post-secondary education.
- Payroll Designation an asset or equivalent work experience
- HR Diploma an asset
D. EXPERIENCE:
- 2+ years working in payroll, benefits and related areas of human resources
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (excel/word), payroll software programs (Desjardins an asset) and Time/Attendance programs.
- Experience working with unionized plant environment an asset
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Able to prioritize and multitask effectively
