About the Role

K’ómoks First Nation is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounting Assistant to support the Finance Department with a wide range of accounting and payroll responsibilities.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, this position plays a key role in processing financial transactions, preparing reports, maintaining records, and assisting with audits, WCB filings, and employee payroll support.

What You’ll Do

Maintain accurate financial records and reconcile banking files and reports
Process accounts payable and monthly invoices for rent, utilities, etc.
Assist with accounts receivables as needed
Support financial audit preparation
Track and reconcile monthly expenses and revenues
Prepare bank deposits and credit card transactions
Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and the organization of Finance
Take minutes for Financial Advisory Committee meetings
Assist with various administrative and clerical financial tasks as needed

What You Bring

Diploma or certificate in accounting or bookkeeping (preferred)
3+ years of direct accounting or bookkeeping experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word) and financial software (e.g. Sage Intacct, etc.)
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Cultural sensitivity and awareness of First Nations governance and community dynamics
Experience working in and with Indigenous communities is preferred
