Blue Wave Therapy is seeking an experienced Child & Adolescent Therapist (Registered Social Worker – MSW level, or Registered Psychotherapist) to join our growing team on a full-time basis.
This role is ideal for a clinician who is passionate about supporting children, adolescents, and families and has strong experience working with neurodivergent children and youth, including those with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), executive functioning challenges, emotional regulation difficulties, anxiety, and school-related concerns.
Blue Wave Therapy is a growing, clinician-led therapy clinic providing in-person mental health services in Markham, Stouffville, and surrounding communities, as well as virtual therapy across Ontario. Our beautiful office is located in the heart of Cornell Village, near Markham Stouffville Hospital. We are a collaborative team of licensed therapists who are deeply committed to supporting our clients and one another through thoughtful, evidence-based care.

About the Role
The successful candidate will provide psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and families experiencing a range of emotional, behavioural, social, and developmental concerns, including:
- ADHD and executive functioning challenges
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Anxiety and excessive worry
- Emotional regulation difficulties
- School avoidance and school-related stress
- Social challenges and peer relationship difficulties
- Self-esteem and confidence concerns
- Depression and mood-related concerns
- Family transitions, separation, and divorce
- Grief and loss
- Behavioural concerns
- Trauma and adverse childhood experiences
- Parent-child relationship difficulties
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of neurodiversity-affirming practice and experience supporting children, adolescents, and families in identifying strengths, developing practical coping strategies, and navigating school, family, and social challenges.
Child, Youth & Family Therapist Requirements
- Willingness to accept a combination of daytime, after-school, evening, and weekend clients
- Availability to provide in-person services from our Markham and Stouffville offices, as well as virtual services from a secure home office
- Willingness to provide Walk & Talk Therapy sessions (weather permitting) near our Markham office
- Ability to travel between clinic locations and nearby Walk & Talk locations as required
- Ability to work collaboratively with children, adolescents, caregivers, and families
- Commitment to providing strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming, and evidence-informed care
- Comfort providing parent consultation, coaching, and family involvement in treatment
A full-time caseload is dependent upon clinical flexibility, availability, and the ability to build strong therapeutic relationships with clients and families.
Qualifications
- Master of Social Work (MSW) degree required
- Registered Social Worker (RSW) or Registered Psychotherapist (RP) in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
- Minimum 5 years of clinical psychotherapy experience preferred
- Demonstrated experience providing psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and families
- Strong experience working with neurodivergent children and adolescents, including ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), executive functioning challenges, emotional regulation difficulties, and school-related concerns
- Demonstrated ability to provide neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based therapy that supports self-understanding, self-advocacy, confidence, and skill development
- Experience providing parent coaching and consultation to caregivers of neurodivergent children and youth
- Experience supporting school-related concerns, including school avoidance, academic stress, social difficulties, accommodations, and executive functioning challenges
- Training and experience in evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as CBT, DBT-informed approaches, ACT, play therapy, attachment-based interventions, parent coaching, solution-focused therapy, or similar modalities
- Trauma-informed training and experience working with children and youth impacted by trauma is considered an asset
- Clinical experience assessing and treating children and adolescents with eating disorders, ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder), body image concerns, and disordered eating is considered a strong asset
- Experience collaborating with schools, psychologists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, physicians, and other professionals involved in a child's care is considered an asset
- Experience using Jane App or similar electronic health record software is an asset
- Strong clinical assessment, treatment planning, and case conceptualization skills
- Superior interpersonal, communication, and written documentation skills
- Ability to provide a current Criminal Record Check
- Must maintain professional liability insurance

Pay: $100.00-$123.00 per hour
