Full job description

Office Administrator

Derks Elevator Inc. is looking for a dependable and organized Office Administrator to assist with the daily administrative and customer-service responsibilities of our grain elevator in Chesterville, Ontario.

The successful candidate will work closely with customers, farmers, truck drivers, suppliers and other employees. This position requires strong attention to detail, good communication skills and the ability to manage several responsibilities in a busy office environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Answer incoming telephone calls and respond to customer inquiries
Greet customers, farmers, drivers and suppliers
Prepare customer invoices and statements
Enter and maintain bookkeeping records
Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable
Prepare, enter and organize grain contracts
Enter, review and maintain scale tickets
Maintain accurate customer, supplier and product records
Communicate with customers regarding deliveries, pickups, contracts and account information
Organize filing, paperwork and general office records
Prepare spreadsheets, reports and internal documents
Coordinate information between the office, scale, elevator and management
Assist with grain settlements and other administrative documentation
Perform general office duties as required

Qualifications

One to three years of office administration, bookkeeping or related experience
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Good attention to detail and accuracy
Professional and friendly customer-service skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable working with invoices, financial records and numerical information
Experience using computers, email, Microsoft Office and spreadsheets
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and changing priorities
Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
Reliable, punctual and responsible

Experience in agriculture, grain handling, bookkeeping, transportation or a related industry is considered an asset but is not required.

Training will be provided for grain contracts, scale tickets and other industry-specific responsibilities.

Job type: Full-time

Expected hours: 40 per week

Pay: $20–$25 per hour
