Job Title: Program Leader

Start Date: April 17th, 2024

Location: Charlottetown, PE

Length of Contract: 9 weeks with possibility of extension

Wage: $18/hour

Hours: 21/week

Program Information:

The Afterschool Program is for participants aged 5-12. The program operates Monday-Friday from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Full day programs will take place over the summer months of June, July & August. The afterschool program offers a healthy snack and structured program sessions to improve the physical, mental and emotional well being of our community.

Job Overview:

Program Leaders will be required to work at least 21 hours per week. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe and fun environment for school-aged children through implementing daily activities and communicating with participants, co-workers and supervisors. The candidate will work to enhance participants' experience by providing new and engaging experiences during our Afterschool & Summer camp programs.

Responsibilities:

Be onsite Monday to Friday during scheduled program hours
Facilitate & guide activities throughout the day
Manage complex behaviours of participants
Assist with daily tasks: snack preparation & cleanup, leading activities
Effectively communicate with other staff, supervisors & families
Monitor children throughout the day and always ensure safety
Adhere to a daily schedule of activities provided.
Keep detailed logs of daily interactions with members, incidents & accidents
Empower the participants to successfully learn and develop appropriate life skills for their abilities
Assist in the daily upkeep of the center, equipment and supplies
Actively participate in all programs and activities

Qualifications:

Emergency First Aid & CPR
Criminal Reference and/or Vulnerable Sector Check
